APX in Top Three of Two CCM Readers' Choice Awards

ApologetiX placed in the top three of two separate categories in CCM Magazine's 2007 Readers' Choice Awards, published last week in the January issue of CCM. Much to our surprise, it wasn't for "best independent band," the award we won in CCM's 2005 awards.
Believe it or not, we came in second in "Artist You'd Like to See on the Cover for the First Time." We were shocked to even be in the running. Even more shocking: we took a back seat to a Backstreet Boy, Brian Littrell, who now does Christian music. Littrell won a number of big awards, including Best Artist, Best Vocalist, and Best Album.
ApologetiX also placed third behind Tammy Trent and Brian Littrell (again) as the "Most Underrated Artist." That's pretty good company. It's also pretty ironic, since we spoofed the Backstreet Boys back in 2000 with our song "I Want in That Place." Some people have even said the cover of our new CD, "Wordplay," reminds them of the Backstreet Boys 2000 CD release "Black & Blue."
For nearly 30 years, CCM Magazine has been recognized as the premier publication dealing with contemporary Christian music. As an independent band doing what are perceived as "novelty" songs, it's hard for ApologetiX to get certain people to take us seriously. We understand that; we don't even take ourselves to seriously. We do take our message seriously, though, and maybe this will cause others to do so as well.
Thanks to all of you who voted online in the 2007 Readers' Choice Awards. We really, really appreciate your support. We weren't even on the ballot in any category, but you helped put us on the map.
