1. GENERAL UPDATE
Thanks to everybody who came to our concert in Mifflintown PA the other night! We were blown away to see hundreds of people showing up on a Sunday night in a place that wasn't exactly anywhere near a major city! One church group of about 20 people drove an hour and a half to be there! You guys are terrific!
The people at the concert witnessed a rare spontaneous performance of "I Have to Die First" (our parody of Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger") by request (of a particular vocal and persistent young fan!) I don't know if our drummer, Bill, has even heard the original the whole way through (he was busy listening to progressive rock when that song was popular), let alone ever played our parody. I know that we last played it "live" in December 1999, when Fred was our drummer, and it was by request then, too ... and we hadn't played it many other times before that.
At long last, we are beginning our Christmas (concert) vacation! We have no concerts for the next three weekends, and I think that's probably the first time we've had three weekends off in a row (let alone two weekends off in a row) in quite a few years! But we felt we needed to take a break to be with our families and to enjoy some time at home. The funny thing is, with all the band members' Christmas parties, we'll still probably see each other every weekend! Don't worry; we like each other, so that's a good thing!
2. POSTERS, PHOTOS AND NEW CHRISTMAS PARODIES
For those of you who have been clamoring for posters of the band and for new publicity photos, we are happy to report that we currently have three projects at the printer: full-color posters for concert promoters, full-color posters for stores and fans, and full-color promo shots. Karl designed all three of these things and has been managing the projects, and the proofs look awesome!
We have also been in the studio working on a few more Christmas parodies that we hope to have to radio soon (We're trying to figure out a way to make them available to you, too), as we promised in a previous newsletter. Two of the songs are finished (and we really, really like the way they sound), and two more are near completion. Stay tuned for more information!
3. APOLOGETIX IN FOCUS ON THE FAMILY'S "PLUGGED IN" MAGAZINE AGAIN
We just found out that "Keep the Change' got a great review in the current issue of Focus on the Family's "Plugged In," magazine, which goes out to about 50,000 people. The latest ApologetiX disc was reviewed along with the latest from Audio Adrenaline, Jennifer Knapp and Third Day. That's not bad company to be keeping at all. We were also the cover story for "Plugged In" in April this year.
4. UPCOMING CONCERTS
When we come back from our self-imposed hiatus, here are some concerts you (and we) can look forward to. Our booking agent, Kathleen Burke, is working on many other concerts right now, but these ones are already set up. If you'd like to inquire about booking a concert, please contact her at booking@apologetix.com or call (949) 770-3001 (Pacific Standard hours).

6. KINGDOM BOUND 2002
I'm happy to report that we are scheduled to play at Kingdom Bound 2002 at Six Flags, Darien Lake, NY in August 2002! We made so many friends at Kingdom Bound ë99 and ë00, that we really missed not being there in 2001. We're greatly looking forward to coming back! Thanks to all of you who prayed for us to return!
Well, that's it ... that's every pair of shoes in the place. (Sorry, that's an old Steve Martin routine, from before he became a movie star. It's 1 a.m., and I'm starting to get a little too strange.) Thanks to all of you!
Apologetically,
J.

Psalms 118:8
"It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man."
(Editor's Note: Psalm 118:8, feature above, is the exact middle verse in the Bible. Isn't that cool? The shortest chapter in the Bible is Psalm 117. The longest chapter in the Bible is Psalm 119. The middle chapter in the Bible is Psalm 118.)
