Jimmy to Play 200th Concert with APX
Sun., Jun. 3. 2007 7:01pm EDT
ApologetiX drummer Jimmy "Vegas" Tanner is slated to play his 200th concert with the band on June 23 in Hickory NC. Although we've had quite a few drummers over the years, Jimmy is only the second drummer to play 200 concerts with us, and only the sixth member overall to do so. He has already played in 32 states with ApologetiX.
Jimmy played his first concert with the band on October 28, 2005 in Noblesville IN, filling in for our previous drummer Bill "Moose" Rieger. He's played all of them since then, except for the "Moose Farewell Tour" in Ohio, January 27-29, 2006. Jimmy now holds the record for reaching the 200-concert plateau the fastest. It took him just under one year, eight months to do it.
Moose held the previous record for reaching 200 concerts the fastest, doing it in just under two years, five months. He still holds a few records that will take some time for Jimmy to reach:
most concerts by an ApologetiX drummer: 396
most states played by an ApologetiX drummer: 46
most albums played on by an ApologetiX drummer: 5
most DVDs played on by an ApologetiX drummer: 2
most times played in Vegas by an ApologetiX drummer: 1
You can see Jimmy, Moose, and four other ApologetiX alumni drummers later this month at our 15th Anniversary Celebration concert, Friday, June 29, in Wexford PA near Pittsburgh. Make sure you bring your CDs for them to autograph.
The concert is free to the public and will take place in conjunction with North Park Church Community Day, so there will be a picnic (with free refreshments and games) at 6 p.m. followed by the concert at 7:30 p.m. For more details on the event, check out the concerts section of our website or in the left column of this week's newsletter.
