This Past Weekend in IN & OH (What About MO)?
Mon., Jul. 30. 2007 10:52pm EDT
Our concert this past weekend in Union City IN (Friday) and Dayton OH (Sunday) went well, but the one in St. Louis MO (Saturday) tanked ... literally. After Friday night's concert, we discovered that the fuel tank on the bus had ruptured and was leaking diesel rapidly.
A crew of volunteer firemen and mechanics worked through the night to patch the leak (led by our lead guitarist/producer, Karl Messner, and our concert promoter, Trena Goodwin), and we were finally ready to head for St. Louis at breakfast time. Unfortunately, 35 miles down the road in Centerville IN, the tank ruptured again, and that was all she wrote.
That's not all we'll write, though. Although we regretted having to postpone our St. Louis concert (the new date is November 10), it was much more pleasant to be broken down in a bus (the amenities and AC still worked) than a van.
And God provided for us in other major ways. Our friends the Leasure Family (Derrick, Brandi, Jenna, and Caleb), who were on their way from Ohio to the St. Louis concert, spent the day hanging out with us instead, and they also ran a shuttle service for us.
Furthermore, a kindhearted local mechanic was able to remove our tank and take it to a local welder, who fixed the tank, which actually had six leaks (one big one and five smaller ones). We were roadworthy again by nightfall and made it safely to Dayton for Sunday's concert and back home afterward.
If you bought tickets for last Saturday's show, they will be good for the November 10 show, which will be held in the same location.
