This Past Weekend in MI, IL & MI
Mon., Feb. 18. 2008 10:36pm EST
We knew this past weekend was our last chance to feel that fantastic February frigidity (we're taking the next two weekends off), so we made sure we kept our concert calendar cold with shows in Holland MI (Friday), Elburn IL (Saturday), and Port Huron MI (Sunday).
Lisa Crozier, who promoted the Holland show (and also did so in 2002 and 2004), had this to say in a follow-up email:We LOVED the concert! You guys just get better and better -- honestly. It was phenomenal. Did you see my kids (the little ones) dancing in the front row to your right? Ha ha! I love seeing that!
Thank you all so much for coming so far and sharing your gifts and your love for God with us again. We are humbled and blessed. Saturday's concert was tinged with sadness, because Elburn is only 15 miles from Dekalb, where the shootings took place just two days earlier at Northern Illinois University. Tragically, one of the churches that sponsored our concert will be holding a funeral for one of the students who was killed; she was the niece of their youth pastor's wife. There were also ApologetiX fans from Dekalb at the concert.
Because we're in a ministry that relies heavily on humor, we needed to make sure that our audience realized that we took their tragedy very seriously and that we were praying for them and with them. We asked God for help in communicating that, and we feel He answered those prayers.
One of the fans who attended that show sent this encouraging note afterward:Thanks again for a great evening in Elburn. I hope you enjoyed it as much as my family (and the others) did. I'm not sure if you guys get as excited with small venues as much as with packed auditoriums, but please keep in mind that the level of personal attention your band gives the little crowd touches those folks every bit as much if not more. It's not as easy to be just another face in the crowd for those still uncertain about Christ, and it give those with an awakened spirit a recharge second only the Word itself (in my opinion anyway).

Batavia IL Special thanks to:
Our concert coordinators: Lisa Crozier (Holland); Ben Adams (Elburn); and Tony Jessie (Port Huron).
Our merchandise coordinators: Tessa and Carmen (Holland); Emily, Judy, Ruth, and Heather (Elburn); and Jeannie, Linda and Amy (Port Huron).
Honorable mention to:
Rich "The Joker" Polick who drove the bus for us this weekend (his fourth straight weekend) and has now been to 102 concerts (the third most of any fan) in 21 states/provinces (tied for first).
Heather Delaney and Ruth Hanawalt, who came from Indiana to Elburn IL and have now seen us 25 times in 7 states/provinces.
Chris Bailey, who came to our Elburn IL concert and has now been to 55 concerts in 15 states. Before getting married last year, Chris' maiden name was Christine "Chris" Christopherson. At Saturday night's concert, she met another fan with a similar name, Christine "Chris" Christopher. The former Chris married out of the repetitive name; the latter Chris married into it.
