The Old Bus is a Sold Bus

A longtime dream of ours came true on Tuesday, June 19, when we sold our old 1986 MCI bus. It was just 10 days short of the fifth anniversary of its maiden voyage, June 29, 2007.
We had the bus, its generator, and its old AC units for sale separately, but a local buyer came along who wanted them all. He got a bargain, but we got a tremendous weight off our shoulders (40-foot buses are heavy).
We'll have many memories of the good times we shared on board the big bus, and we're sure they'll last much longer than the frightening flashbacks of the myriad of mechanical malfunctions that plagued its later years.
The new buyer was aware of everything that's gone wrong with that bus and the fact that it won't pass inspection, but he still wanted it. And he's got the mechanical know-how to get some good out of it, which makes us happy.
Even Keith and his wife, Krista, admitted it was a bittersweet bon voyage, despite the fact that they've had the equivalent of a 40-foot immobile home monopolizing a good portion of their side yard for most of the past year.

In related news, longtime ApologetiX fan Jenn "the Superchick" Kipp thinks the sight of our "new" screaming-yellow bus hauling our hulking black-and-white looks a lot like Tweety and Sylvester. Sufferin' succotash -- she's got a point!
