They're Playing Our Song … Not

Knock knock. Who's there?
Hoosier. Hoosier who?
Hoosier favorite band? ApologetiX!
O.K. you may not have found that Hoosier reference amusing, but you'll probably enjoy this one from a longtime fan in Indiana:Many of the songs that are done by ApologetiX are parodies of songs whose original versions we are not familiar with.
Sabina (my wife) does not have familiarity with much secular music at all, having been trained as a classical pianist who mostly listens to classical music and traditional church music. I am not that familiar with secular music that has come out in the past 35-40 years, having redirected my listening habits to Christian music while in college in the late 70s. But I am a big ApologetiX fan and listen to your music regularly. I frequently have it on around the house so Sabina hears lots of your music.
As a result, we have familiarity with a lot of secular music (at least familiarity with their tunes and some of the phonetics) only through your parodies. This has resulted in numbers of fun and humorous situations for us. (I should mention that one of my wife's endearing traits is that she is a bit gullible.)
Just now we are visiting our daughter in Massachusetts who is expecting her first child any day now. Sabina and Ruth were in a grocery store and Sabina was surprised to hear a secular businesses in this part of the country playing Christian music. The song was "Hosanna." Your rendition of "Rosanna" was done so well that she was sure the song she was hearing overhead was the one she knew--"Hosanna," and sang along with the parts she knew.
My daughter was pretty sure the grocery store was not paying a song called "Hosanna," but did not know what the "original" was (I put the word "original" in quotes because for Sabina, "Hosanna" IS the original).
A few years back our family was on vacation, and while in line at a truck stop waiting at the cash register to pay for our gas, she started singing along with, "I Saw Second Timothy" … I suggested to her that she should be careful what ApologetiX songs she sings in public. (Editor's Note: Although the original lyrics for that particular song aren't profane, they aren't the most wholesome.)
These are just two of the many times that we have been out in public, have heard some music overhead and have exchanged smiles and said, "There is an ApologetiX song!"
Thank you for the many songs you have redeemed through your giftedness and your hard work.
Keep up the good work.
Blessings.
