APX Karaoke Makes Impact in China

What are the odds that an ApologetiX parody of a Molly Hatchet song could impact a youth in China? Well, as the Bible says, with God all things are possible. Check out this email we received this week from a missionary in Macau:Just a quick note to give you some encouragement. We had just finished our youth winter camp a few days before, so, at our regular youth meeting time, we took some time to reflect on the lessons from the camp. Afterward, to have a little fun we had a lip-sync battle.
Even though we live here in China, the youth are clued in to what is hot and trendy in the USA. So they have been asking about doing a lipsync battle. I was surprised at how well they did, but as you can imagine all of the songs were secular songs. Well, that is till it was my turn. I got up and did a smashing rendition of "Flirting With the Pastor"
I had the words put up on the screen behind me and the monitor in front of me, not so they could follow along but so I could mouth the right words. After the competition, as we were eating our snacks, one of the youth came and asked me about the song and it's meaning (all the youth here learn English from kindergarten up even though they may not speak it well they can all read it).
He was confused by the word "flirting." He said to me, "Does the song talk about people who come in and out of church but never get serious with God? Is that what flirting means?" I said yes. "To flirt is to tease and when you come and go and 'pretend' to be something that your not. In the case of the song people play or flirt with the pastor pretending to be Christians." He responded with, "I get it."
As He walked away I could tell he was thinking things over. He is just such a person as the song described. I know it touched him and challenged him. Thanks for all of your hard work and perseverance.
