1. This Weekend: Gatlinburg TN
2. Next Saturday: Indiana
3. Upcoming Concerts

It's great to be back in your email box. I hope you had a great Christmas. I certainly did. We spent New Year's Eve not too far from Seattle, in Stanwood WA, the first ApologetiX trip to the Great Pacific Northwest. We already have another one in Oregon scheduled for 2004, but there may be more ApologetiX trips to that area of the country in 2003. Special thanks to Gary and DeAnna (Yeah, you say it like "Gary, Indiana," the song in "The Music Man"), who still haven't seen us in their home state of Oregon, but have made long trips to see us in California (twice) and Washington, and even brought a posse with them this time around.

As we have done in previous years, we've scheduled a little more lightly in December, January, and February, because of the harsh weather, the holidays and the overall need to recuperate from another long year of touring and recording.

This weekend, we'll be in Gatlinburg, TN. It'll be the first trip there for ApologetiX, but the second for me. Now, everybody from the generation before mine remembers where they were when JFK died. I wasn't around for that one, but I do remember where I was when the news broke that Elvis died. I was in a pottery shop in Gatlinburg TN. Even though I was young and wasn't nearly the Elvis fan I am today, I was shocked at how little stir it caused in the people around me. After all, I was in the state where Elvis lived (although he was born in Mississippi), for goodness' sake!

The last time I was in Gatlinburg, I also did what the whale did at the end of our song "Jonah Jonah." My sister Gayle and I caught some sort of stomach virus near the end of our trip. We were living in a trailer camp for the week, visiting the Great Smoky Mountains. My dad had rented us a Coachman camper, a partial realization of a dream I'd had for a number of years.

You see, when I was a little kid, I wanted to move to Utah and be an archeologist/paleontologist and live in a Winnebago camper. Although I was still too young to drive when we rented the Coachman, it was still pretty cool riding in a real camper, except for the time we took the curve to hard, and the refrigerator swung open and did a "Jonah Jonah" of its own!

I'm hoping that this trip to Gatlinburg will be a much kindler, gentler experience! I hope that all of us Pittsburgh people who go to Tennessee this weekend have a wonderful time ... you football fans know what I'm talking about :)
