4. VOTE FOR APOLOGETIX TO APPEAR AT CREATION 2003 (YOU COULD WIN FREE TICKETS!)
In 2000, ApologetiX played the main stage at the Creation East festival in Mt. Union, PA. Creation is the nation's largest Christian music festival, with a second festival, Creation West, being held later in George, WA. Held annually since the 1970's, Creation has featured virtually every major Christian artist at one time or another.
Now you have a chance to send us back to Creation and to win two free tickets for yourself. Simply fill out the ballot at http://www.itickets.com/contest/creation
Since 2000, we have been asked countless times when we'll return to Creation, and we've always replied, "If Creation asks what artists you'd like to see, mention us."
In the past week, we received this email from Creation Concerts, the organizers of the festival:
"The Creation Festival would like you to help us in the artist selection process for this year's Creation Festivals east and west. We need to know whom you would choose. Who would you like to see on the stages at Creation 2003?
"For helping us, by completing the survey, your name will be automatically entered in a drawing to win a pair of Creation Tickets for this year's festival. Please complete the survey by entering your information in all of the required fields. Then hit submit. Winners will be selected and notified by Jan. 1st."
Click here to go to Creation Festival Survey Page: http://www.itickets.com/contest/creation
The best thing about it is nobody can vote more the once, so there's no ballot box stuffing. And you can vote for 10 different artists in order of preference. And you won't have to write us in; they've already put us on the ballot.
Actually, in 1999, we asked our fans to write letters to Kingdom Bound and Creation and let them know they'd like to see ApologetiX. Both festivals were flooded with mail, and soon after, we were invited to play at both festivals.
We're closing in on 20,000 subscribers to this newsletter, so ApologetiX fans can definitely make a difference. If you have a moment, please go to http://www.itickets.com/contest/creation I did, and it took me about two minutes (the majority of the time was figuring out what 10 artists to choose). Thanks!
5. MORE ABOUT OUR ORIGINAL BASS PLAYER, JERRY
Two weeks ago, I told you about our original bass player, Jerry Hayostek, whose wife, Kristen, died of cancer this past summer. As a widower with seven kids, ages 13 to one, Jerry now has to have a full-time nanny to help and is working several jobs to take care of things.
If you'd like to send an email to Jerry, he showed me a website where you can read more about Kristen and add your comments (Jerry maintains the site and will be able to read anything you write).
(link no longer active)
The church has set up a "Hayostek Family Fund" at National City Bank for Jerry. The account is being managed by the church, and Jerry is only using the money to send the kids to a Christian School and to help pay the nanny.
If you wish to donate to the fund, write a check payable to "Hayostek Family Fund Acct. #9041863757" and deposit it any National City Bank or mail it to:
Hayostek Family Fund Account
Allegheny Center Alliance Church
250 East Ohio St.
Pittsburgh, PA 15212
Note: the contributions are not tax deductible.
And, most importantly, please pray for Jerry and his kids!
