Last-Minute Show Made Lasting Impact
Sun., Aug. 21. 2005 12:38pm EDT
Three weeks ago, we made a last-minute addition to our schedule and played at IMPACT 2005, the Churches of God General Conference in Monroeville PA. There were about 500 youth from PA, OH, MI, IN in attendance. One of those kids, Bethany Lonberger of Dover PA, sent us an email this past week that said:
"I am a kid from IMPACT 2005. I enjoyed your performance. When I first saw you, I wasn't yet a Christian but I am, thanx to you and the rest of IMPACT. Thank You for showing me the way to Christ. :) Me and the rest of my youth group thank you for a great time."
Needless to say, we were very blessed to receive that news! As we sometimes point out in concert, in Revelation 3:20, when Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him," He was originally addressing members of the Christian church at Laodicea.
While we believe that verse can be applied to anybody's life in regard to salvation, there's another interesting lesson to be learned from it: just because somebody is a church member doesn't necessarily mean they've let Christ into their life.
Consequently, we still like to share the message of Christ's salvation during our concerts, even when we're playing at church conventions. And we think Bethany's email is a wonderful testimony to why that's a good idea.
