Prayer Request Updates on Mike & Greg
Mon., Nov. 7. 2005 10:18pm EST
Last week, we had two prayer requests for you: One for Mike Calhoun, an ApologetiX fan who is fighting for his life after an automobile accident, and another for our good friend Greg Micher, who was rushed to the hospital with chest pains last Monday.
Thank you for your concern and your prayers. Here are updates on each situation:
First, from Mike's wife on Saturday, November 5:
Sorry I haven't updated you on Mike's condition in about a week, but he was in very critical condition a few days ago and they didn't think he would make it. He is still in critical but he has improved over the past 24 hours and were hoping he will continue to do that.
He was awake today and I got to talk to him (he still can't talk back due to the ventilator but he nods yes and no and shakes his shoulders for indifference or "I dunno!") and I told him about emailing your band and he smiled and wagged his eyebrows at me (it made my day!). Tomorrow they said I could bring in some music for him to listen to and guess what? It will be your CD's.
You have awesome fans, I have received close to one hundred emails from your fans with prayers and encouragement, I just wanted to say thank you, without everyone's prayers from family friends and strangers we would not have made it this far. We are truly blessed and Mike is the miracle I have been praying for.
Continue your prayers please, we have a long road ahead and I will try and update you when I can.
Taghred Calhoun
Second, from Greg himself on Wednesday, November 2, afternoon:
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, they are truly appreciated. I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support my extended ApologetiX family.
As for me, it is/was a pulmonary embolism on my left lung. I'm home now with the stipulation that I inject myself twice a day with blood thinners/clot busters and get my blood drawn and checked once a day. Not fun, but at least I'm home with my family and not taking up a hospital bed.
After a week or so I can stop the injections once I build up a maintenance dose in my blood, then I will stay on oral medication for the next 6 months. No strenuous activity for now (as part of my left lung is still not working), but that should heal itself in time. WOW, God makes a great machine!!!
Thank you again for your concern and prayers, I am very grateful.
Greg
