We're honored to announce that "New & Used Hits: The Best of ApologetiX Vol. 1 & 2" just won the best album award in Christianity Today's 2005 Readers' Choice Christian Music Awards. ApologetiX also placed second, behind Skillet, in the Best Band category.
Thanks to all of you ApologetiX fans who voted in Christianity Today's online survey. In the article announcing the awards, Christianity Today credited the fans of Skillet and ApologetiX for getting the vote out:
If there's one thing to be learned from our annual Readers' Choice Awards poll, it's this: Street teams and fan clubs are alive and well! How else to explain that a group that hasn't released an album in over two years is named Best Band? (That would be Skillet.) Or that a greatest hits CD that most Christian music fans aren't even aware of is named Best Album? (That would be New & Used Hits by the Christian parody band Apologetix, which also finished second in the voting for Best Band.)
Oh, well, if Christianity Today thinks "New & Used Hits" is a CD most Christian music fans aren't aware of, maybe this little bit of extra publicity will help :) Thanks again, ApologetiX fans!
The Best Male Artist, Best Female Artist, and Best New Artist awards were won by Jeremy Camp, Rebecca St. James, and The Afters, respectively. Christianity Today says the voting "response was fantastic," with almost 50 percent more votes than last year. As far as respondents go, "Almost 54 percent were male, 46 percent female. Almost 45 percent were aged 13-19, and another 19 percent aged 20-24."
