Build the bus

When you come to the “Open House” tour of the bus on Friday, don’t expect a finished product, but a work in progress. BUT, there are several “showstoppers” that could keep us from taking the bus on the 10 day trip. Those are: potty, generator, and hitch. The hitch is a special custom thing we have to figure out, the potty is a can of worms, and the generator hasn’t been fired up yet..

BUT today, we had My cousin Jimmy (not Vinnie), Hubie, and Ted. Hubie and I got to my house at 5am from North Carolina. We got a couple hours sleep, then my cousin Jimmy got there after nine and we got to work. We cracked open the hitch to find it was far less than we’d feared. And aside from wrestling with some tough bolts, it went on without a... problem.

The replacement circuit breaker for the generator came in, and Hubie then went to that. After much figgerin’ we fired it up, and then cut the apron strings to my horse barn and we powered the whole bus on generator power for a while :)

Now, we’re working on the plumbing, and I got a GREAT email from my bus buddy telling me how I DON’T have to dig a hole through the ceiling to vent the “black water” tank. That makes plumbing a snap. Hopefully we’ll have all that in place tomorrow and be wrapping up all the other construction projects, and button things up Wendesday and do some paperwork to make it all street legal.
