Build the bus

Today, Hubie made another trip from his new home in Clarion, PA to help out with wiring. The Leasures also came and helped with upholstering the benches. Brandon put in yet another day of solid help all around (then wrecked his car on the way home. He’s ok, and the car will be too. I live at the end of nasty hilly wet leaf-covered windy roads and I’ve spun my car in the same place.)
Wires and Upholstery
Karl and Bill affixing the front conduit
Bill sawsall’s the conduit to make life easier
Careful!
It’s starting to look like the Atlanta airport with wires hanging everywhere.
The first wire :)
Pushing wires through pipes is tougher than you may think.
Conuit in the bathroom
Conduit in the bunkhouse
Derrick’s here!
There is about a tenth of a mile of wire in the bus.
Gotta keep track
Fridge, Passenger Side Front Lounge
Brandy is going for Pizza. Today we eat!
Wires for lighting
Wires for AC
Exposing more of the conduit makes life easier, too :)
Pizza’s here!
Now, back to the upholstering and wiring
The kids (and Maddie) check out the horses.
Caleb and Derrick see what’s going on.
We’re making spaghetti!
Tons of wires make a home
the top bunk houses some electrical wizardry
“Put foam in here.” We leave ourselves reminders all over the place.
Last bit of wiring
Brandon helping to fish it through
Got it.
That should be enough wires for a Parody band
Keeping track of what’s what.
Now, let’s upholster
Stapling
stapling
stapling
holding while someone elses is stapling
Ok, First one’s done. All mistakes are made and we know what we’re doing.
The first side we did is condemned to be toward a wall to hide rookiness
Second side looks much better
We can still trim the TWO LAYERS OF HIGH LOFT BATTING
Hubie works on the staple gun. Turns out the old timey one works better.
Test drive..
Seems to hold up
There is a cover for the sides, but nut until we’re sure...
First bench is done. Back will be done when we get the foam for it.
Making sure the staples are all the way in.
Early side still had batting spilling out.
Bottom is tight (like a tiger)
Movin’ on to our next victim.
Upholstery veterans now, we confidently get right to work.
Brandy comresses the foam a little with her miniscule weight.
Checking for taut...
Second one is done, and quite nicely for our first day as upholsterers!
Karl tests this one. Not bad!
Looking good.
Two down, two to go.
Caleb’s not feeling well. Time to call it a night. 1:00 am
It’s official! We’ve run out of funding. And only about 5k short of budget. Please help Build the Bus.
