When was ApologetiX in USA Today?
Our national #1 alternative/modern Christian hit, "JC's Mom," was mentioned in a USA Today article about the original song, "Stacy's Mom."
The article appeared in the Life section of the January 26, 2005 edition in an article by Olivia Barker titled "Fountains of Wayne has one splashy mama."
Here are the first two paragraphs of the article:
"A year and a half after its release, the hit ditty by Fountains of Wayne, about a guy lusting after his girlfriend's mother, continues to strut through the airwaves.
"Parodies abound, including one titled 'JC's Mom,' about Jesus and Mary. A Fresno radio station sponsored a "hot-mom contest"; listeners brought their moms to the studio, and a "hottest mom" was crowned. These days the song is serving as the soundtrack to a Dr Pepper ad, which features a mom emerging from a minivan to greet a clutch of boys (and dispense soda), the wind lifting up her shirttail ever so slightly."
