What's the story behind Decent Alternative?

Although this is our 60th CD, it's actually the third in a series, following Ticked in 1997 and Apoplectic in 2014. All three exclusively feature music from the 90's, particularly the alternative movement that helped define the decade.

From 2015–18, we released 20 other parodies from the 90's that could have qualified for another volume in the series, but we ended up releasing them on other CDs with songs from other decades.

In early 2019, however, we decided to start holding back our subsequent 90's alternative-rock parodies for this project. Some of our fans who grew up in that era took notice and have been eagerly anticipating this release.

Half of the parodies on it were originally written (although they have since been extensively rewritten) as potential candidates for the original Ticked CD. At least a third of the other parodies spoof songs we had considered for Ticked.

We originally planned to call this CD Eclectic, to follow with the "tic/ticked" theme, but we worried that people might misread it as "Electric." We also wondered if the music was eclectic enough to merit that title, since all the tracks spoofed songs from 1992–98.

Furthermore, it didn't seem to have the "angry" songs that helped inspire the titles of Ticked and Apoplectic. Rather, it's a collection of alternative parodies with decent, God-fearing lyrics. Hence the title, Decent Alternative.
