What's the test of being a Christian?
The Bible teaches that there is a simple test for determining whether or not you are a Christian.
2 Cor. 13:5
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you--unless, of course, you fail the test?
This isn't the only place where the Bible teaches about Christ living inside a real believer. Here are some others:
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.
(Jesus is speaking) Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.
To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
(Jesus is speaking): On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
How do we get Christ inside of us? Hear His voice and open the door! As the Bible says:
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (NOTE: This verse is also in Acts 2:21 and Joel 2:32)
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.
