APX Runner-up in Two Christianity Today Awards
Mon., Jan. 1. 2007 3:14pm EST
ApologetiX took second place in the "best band" and "best album" categories when Christianity Today recently announced the results of their annual Readers' Choice Awards. Hard-rock band Skillet placed first in both categories. Thanks to everyone who voted for us.
Christianity Today is a very influential publication, and your input is very influential with them. For example, in January 2005, they published a mixed review of "New & Used Hits" that took a few jabs at the band and questioned the value of Christian parodies. They received such a vocal response from ApologetiX fans that they followed it up with a nice feature article on us.
We think we might still detect a little bit of sarcasm as they announced the latest award winners. The lead sentences of the article read, "We now have the results of our annual Skillet vs. ApologetiX contest—oops, we mean, our annual Readers' Choice Awards. And the big winners are—surprise! Skillet and ApologetiX! Again!"
Christianity Today did pay ApologetiX fans and Skillet fans a compliment, however, calling you "two of the most passionate and faithful fan clubs in Christian music." And we agree. Thanks for being there for us.

Note: Whereas CCM Magazine calls their awards the 2007 Readers' Choice Awards, Christianity Today calls their award the 2006 Readers' Choice Awards. Either way, both publications' awards were for the 2006 calendar year.
