8."Remember the Van" CD Sale

Thanks to all of you who wrote with your concerns, encouragement and prayers regarding our van troubles last week. I'll give you the update in a nutshell:

When I last reported to you, we were sitting inside our 15-passenger Dodge van on board a flatbed truck towing our trailer and bound for Emporia KS. It was Tuesday, and we weren't scheduled to play Emporia until Friday, so we had a good head start. Unfortunately, we were due in Bastrop TX and Brownsville TX on Wednesday and Thursday.

Well, the good news is that the Dodge dealer was able to figure out what was wrong with our van and they had it fixed by Friday. In the meantime, they rented us vehicles and we were able to make it to both concerts in Texas on time without hitting any of that hurricane weather the people in Texas were worried about. That bad news is our van's engine was shot, and it cost us $7000 for a new reconditioned engine, on top of the $300-plus it took to repair the gas pump we accidentally broke that same afternoon, the $300 for the new radiator earlier that afternoon, and the $75 for the new radiator at the start of the day.

However, by Saturday, we were able to drive our own van to the concert in Camdenton MO (had some great conversations with the guys in Disciple and Riley Armstrong while we were there). Unfortunately, the trip home blew out the transmission (We knew it was going to need replaced soon), and the van is once again in the shop. That's going to cost another $1500-2000.

Can anyone say: It's time to offer that cracked CD sale again? Well, we will, and I've included that information at the end of this email, but before we go any further, I have to say: These unforeseen expenses are hitting us at a really bad time, so please pray for us. However, we are confident that God will provide, as He always has, and we praise Him that we were able to make every single concert last week. And we also started playing a few new songs on this tour, parodies that are scheduled to be included on our next CD (Sorry no deadline for that one yet, although we'd love to have it out by the end of the year!)

It just so happens that we have received a ton of encouraging emails this week from people whose lives have been changed by God working through ApologetiX, and I'd like to share those with you, because they are really exciting (See Section #6, "Encouragement from Everywhere.") But first, here's the concert info for this week:

6. ENCOURAGEMENT FROM EVERYWHERE

As promised above, here are some excerpts from some of the encouraging emails we've received recently. God has excellent ways of giving you hope to carry on!

Two years ago, while on a Speech & Drama trip with my school, I brought along your CD 'Keep The Change'. It was the first time I had ever heard of ApologetiX, so I had bought it the week before, thinking it would be an enjoyable listen. Enjoyable didn't even begin to describe it! I was blown away! Especially by the parody of 'The Real Slim Shady', 'The Real Sin Savior'. It was so awesome! Anyway, on this Speech & Drama trip, one of my friends asked me what I was listening to. He wasn't a Christian and he was one of the people that I had always been trying to witness to. I let him listen to the CD and he thought it was the sweetest thing he had ever heard.

He started asking me questions about some of the lyrics in the song, and before long, I realized that I had essentially witnessed to him through your music. Your music made it so much easier to witness and I didn't have to think about what I was doing or worry if I was going to get teased or anything. Well, I kept on after my friend, who I later found out went out and bought 'Keep The Change' for himself. He listened to the album constantly and every time a real song came on the radio or at a school dance, we would get together and sing the parody to it, while others looked on and wondered what we were doing. Last year, my friend came to Christ. Thanks to you and your music, my friend now has a new life in Christ, our God. Thanks for everything!

I went to your site www.apologetix.com and i was looking at it and i accepted Christ in my life. I thank Him very much for you and i pray He uses you even more! I was most of my life Muslim, Iam 23 years old male from Miami FL and my parents are both saved too. I went to your site and listened to the Apologetix radio and it really hit me and then i wanted Christ in my life.

Ali Miami FL

Keep on spreading the word man. Oh, by the way, when I was going to school at Oklahoma State University, I was listening to "The Real Sin Savior" one day with my door open and a guy (unsaved) came by and thought it was the coolest thing in the world. That just goes to show that you guys are touching the world in an awesome way with your music.

Mark Lemon Oklahoma

You guys really rock and you could never know how much you've touched my life. I have my own business and its in the construction field but the music on our job sites when we get to choose is all you guys. Love to see the expressions on the faces when they realize the lyrics are different. We love you guys.

William Longacre Oklahoma

Just wanted to let you know how much your music has influenced our family. Last night, when I asked my seven-year-old sister, Abby, what she wanted for a bedtime snack, she replied, "An ApologetiX sandwich". I was puzzled as to what she meant, but she went on to ask for lettuce, pickles, etc. When asked why she called that particular combination an "ApologetiX sandwich", she explained, "Because it's my favorite" :) Today at lunch she requested it again, then told her four-year-old friend, "ApologetiX is my favorite band, and that's my favorite sandwich." Now that's dinner music! :)

I belong to the Christian Motorcyclists Association ( www.cmausa.org). We reach out in various ways to motorcyclists - Banditos, Gypsy's, Grey Ghosts, Sons of Silence to name a few. One of the ways is by attending their motorcycle rallies. These rallies have bandstands set up outside and have music going at all times. There is one man that is very popular in the area and does most of the local rallies. He goes by the name of BoogieButt Productions. He is usually very drunk and staggering around the place. My husband and I and another couple set up a tent at these rallies and kind of provide a "safe haven" for the kids that have been brought to these rallies and present Jesus to them. We often have your cd playing as they often are very familiar with the "tunes".

A couple months ago BoogieButt ( sorry, I don't know his real name) was passing by our tent at a rally and quickly became interested in the music he was hearing from our tent. He listened a moment and caught on real quick that there was a different message to the music he was hearing. He later that day remarked that he would like to borrow our cd and play it from the bandstand. He thought it was so cool! The next morning we saw him as we were loading things up to leave, and he was actually sober. He returned our cd and we actually gave him the cd's that we had and told him they were his, if he would play them at the rallies. He agreed. Two weeks ago, we attended a rally but didn't have the tent set up, so he had no way of knowing that we were there. It sure blessed my heart to keep hearing your music being blasted all over that rally. I believe that man has been touched by God through your music, and who knows where it may lead him. Praise The Lord!

Mike and Casey came home (from the ApologetiX concert in Fonda NY) with a CD to share with Jason and me, and a lot of laughter in their hearts after listening to you. Frankly, my husband doesn't find a lot funny anymore, he's a 100% disabled vet due to the Gulf War and has a pretty tough time. To see him so filled with joy after your performance was the greatest gift I have received in a long time. Thank you so much.

Ellen Preckel (Mike, Casey and Jason too!) New York

I just wanted to send you some pictures of the Apologetix in Surabaya Indonesia. These two pics are me and a High School Student named Florian from Indonesia, he call's himself Ugly Kid Flo, this is the first time he has ever heard you guys, (He's a Christian not Muslim). You can see his reaction, he love it, He wanted to know where he could get more. I gave him mine, I left him with Biblical Graffiti, Keep the Change, Spoofernatural and Grace Period so he could share them with his church and friends. We also did a Fun Night with about 30 students from local High Schools and all the music was you guys.

There were about 5 Christians and 25 Muslims in attendance. They flipped over the music. Your music floored them, the Muslim kids wanted to know more about this Jesus you were singing about. You helped open the door for us, we were not allowed to talk about God in the class setting, but thanx to Him working in and through your music, we were able to share the gospel with all of them, and let me tell you what, one 15-year-old girl named Risca, prayed to receive Christ and on the last day we were there, I had the privilege of Baptizing her. God is good all the time. Your music allowed the door to be open. I just want to give all glory honor and praise to Him for using you for Kingdom building. One more for the Kingdom, Priceless. May God bless you and your ministry.
