For those of you who don't know, I lived in Kentucky from when I was eight years old until I married J. and moved to Pittsburgh. I graduated from the University of Kentucky (GO CATS!) and I'm still upset that Rick Pitino is coaching at UofL. . . .

The concert in Elizabethtown is pretty close to where I went to college, and the concert in Paducah is VERY near where I grew up! I lived in a small town called Mayfield, which is 30 minutes away from Paducah, but Paducah is the town we went to for restaurants, shopping malls, movies, etc. Also, after I graduated from UK, I worked as an editor for a publishing company in Paducah until J. and I got married. The concert in Paducah will be just a few blocks from where I used to work!

One of the neatest things for me about the Paducah concert is that just last year my Dad said to me, "You know, y'all should come play at the BBQ festival in Paducah." (Hi Dad!) Who knew that within a year of his saying that, someone would approach ApologetiX to play there! God's cool, isn't He?

4. NO UPCOMING CD SONG LIST =(

I hope you've been enjoying J.'s clues to the songs that are going to be on the new CD, "Keep the Change," which will be in stores on Tuesday, September 25. I have to say, it's become my favorite part of the newsletters (yes, I read 'em too!).

(Now, since J.'s not here, I can talk about him. . . .)

I know there's a perception that the wives are "insiders" of ApologetiX. And it's true that we are privy to alot of the inner workings of the band. But I think I speak for all the wives when I say that we're FANS of the band, too. I get excited about each new CD. I listen to the CDs in my car (and yes, I sing along!). And I praise God for all the talent and abilities that He has blessed each member of the band with.

I look forward to this part of the newsletter each week because it's fun to see how cleverly J. puts the clues together. I guess it's the same God-given talent that enables him to write parodies that rhyme so closely to the original song but still give a coherent message, that still "make sense." Alot of people think that writing parodies is easy or that "anybody could do what he does." I'm sure I probably thought that myself at one point. But think about it: Pick a sentence out of a book (or even out of this newsletter), and try to come up with another sentence that rhymes syllable-for-syllable but still makes perfect sense! It ain't easy! The more I've gotten to watch J. put these songs together, the more I've come to appreciate what a special gift he has.

5. APOLOGETIX PRAYER REQUESTS

The Haynies (Keith & Krista) ó please pray that everything would go smoothly with the closing on their new house. They've needed a bigger house for years, and I know they're looking forward to moving!

The Jacksons (J. and Lisa) ó please pray for J.'s voice while he's recording the new CD. Also, please pray for our family during the next two weeks, and especially on August 23.

Me personally ó this is a small prayer request (if there is such a thing!). But this afternoon, my necklace broke and I lost the pendant that J. gave me as a wedding present. I know where it came off, but unfortunately it landed in some hedges and I wasn't able to find it. I know that God can miraculously draw someone's eye to it, and the people who own the hedge said they'd let me know if they found it. But I searched and searched for it this afternoon, and I'm very discouraged about it. Please pray that they're able to find it and return it to me!

Well, I hope no one minded my using this newsletter as my own private forum, but I really had fun writing it! We'll return to our regularly scheduled programming next week.

God bless you,

Lisa
