Additional APX Airplay in St. Louis
Sat., May. 26. 2007 1:42pm EDT

Here's some good news for fans of ApologetiX (and Christian music in general) in the St. Louis area:

I wanted to let you know, because I know how much you appreciate radio exposure for the band, we cranked up our sister station's HD2 signal last Friday!

It's KEZK-HD2 and it's Contemporary Christian CHR...or as I prefer to refer to it, a faith-based CHR/Rock format. It's the first full-time, full-power, 100,000-watt FM signal with a CCM format in St. Louis history. This market has never had a CCM signal that covers the entire metropolitan area.

And yes, ApologetiX will get plenty of airplay!

I realize HD Radio is in it's infancy, and it'll be a year or two before it all becomes familiar stuff to the regular Joe and Jane Listener, but it's exciting nonetheless. We're in on the ground floor. It's like FM radio was back in the late '60's when I was in high school. I can remember the first time I heard the album version of Light My Fire on an FM station in Chicago...I HAD to get to a store and buy an FM converter for my parent's car! Hopefully, KEZK-HD2 will create that same type of excitement for CCM-starved folks in the St. Louis area.

The cool part is that KEZK is tied with KMOX for #1 in the St. Louis market (Arbitron/Winter'07/Adults 12+), so it's pretty awesome that the Lord worked this out to have KEZK-FM's new HD2 format be this unique style of CCM. Y98 is usually around #8 in the book, and it's HD2 station, KYKY-HD2, is already airing an Eclectic Chill format, with artists like Enya, Pet Shop Boys, Enigma, and Moby. So having the opportunity to go on KEZK-HD2 with this new CCM format is pretty neat.

The format will range from U2/Switchfoot/Lifehouse/Robert Randolph & The Family Band/Mat Kearney/The Fray/MuteMath, through Kutless/Audio A/Reliant K/Newsboys/ BarlowGirl/Skillet/The Afters/Jeremy Camp/Nate Sallie/ApologetiX/Jessie Daniels/Krystal Meyers, to Matthew West/MercyMe/Natalie Grant/Steven Curtis Chapman/Todd Smith/Rachael Lampa/Nicol Sponberg/Bryan Duncan/Amy Grant/Michael W. Smith, etc. It'll be in the Hot AC realm, but leaning CHR/Rock. No dorky or wimpy stuff...you know what I mean!

And you bet, we'll play plenty of ApologetiX! So ApologetiX fans in the St. Louis area NEED to buy one or 2 of the new HD radio's that are available (car and home!) and crank it up!! You might even wanna mention it at the concert this Saturday night. And the latest HD info is that the smaller chip technology is just coming online for portable units (boomboxes, iPods, etc.), so hopefully those portable radio's will be available by Christmastime.

Once we're up and going with the full format on KEZK-HD2, we'll also feature modern P&W on Sundays, 6AM-12PM and classics on Sunday nights, 9PM-12AM (Randy Stonehill/Larry Norman/2nd Chapter of Acts/Phil Keaggy/Parable/Darrell Mansfield/The 77's/Rez Band/Love Song, etc.). Right now, until we get all the clocks and rotations set into Selector and our RCS computer system, we're running a playlist of about 100 songs, with teasers, to kick it off. I'd appreciate your prayers for God's wisdom and guidance...thanks!

And thanks for all your efforts...keep the great new music comin'!!! We always get listeners asking about you guys on The Answer Radio Show on Y98, and now with KEZK-HD2, it'll be even better.

See ya Saturday night in Kirkwood MO!

Blessings,

Stel Pontikes
