This Past Weekend in MI, OH & PA
Tue., Oct. 2. 2007 12:55am EDT

It was the end of one era and the beginning of a new one this past weekend as we played our 999th, 1000th, and 1001st concerts in Port Huron MI, Steubenville OH, and DuBois PA.

We drove to the end of the country for our 999th show, which was just over the border from Ontario, Canada. Meanwhile, fans came from all over the country (including Texas, Kansas, and Wisconsin) to celebrate our 1000th concert.

After our 999th concert, we discovered that some local fans had decorated a hundred-foot stretch of wooden fence near the concert with the words "ApologetiX Rules" and "999th Concert" drawn in colored chalk. At our 1000th concert, the promoters had a massive congratulatory banner made for us which had to be at least 50 feet long. It was all quite humbling.

Here's a nice note we received from a fan who attended the 1000th show:

I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed going to Steubenville from Greensburg with two of my friends for your concert. I've now seen you at Kingdom Bound, in New Bethlehem, and in Steubenville and your music gets me every time.

I'm a music therapy major and I truly believe in the power of music, and I want to thank you guys for doing what you do. You inspire me to read more about the Bible passages and messages that you sing about, and you offer much better lyrics to songs that had potential and then someone had to put in their terrible lyrics.

Thanks again for being so commited.

Rebecca Lamison
New Bethlehem PA

Special thanks to:

Honorable mention to: The Leasure Family, who hosted our 1000th concert. Brandi, Jenna, and Caleb Leasure have now seen us at 52 concerts in 18 states/provinces, and have been to at least one concert for a record-breaking 13 straight weekends. Derrick Leasure, the father of the family, has had to miss a few because of nursing school, but he's still not far behind, with 15 states/provinces.

Our other concert promoters: Pastor Tim Clark (Port Huron) and Chris Shaw (DuBois).

Our merchandise coordinators: Bethany, Michelle and Sable (Port Huron); Marie and Jenn the Superchick (Steubenville and DuBois); Lindsey, Eve, and Heidi (Steubenville).

Our bus drivers: Dan Uber (Port Huron) and Rich Polick (Steubenville and Dubois).

Our opening bands at the 1000th show: Among the Thirsty (Ryan, Brian, Brock and Greg), KalledOut, and all the other great artists who went on before them, including the legendary Derrick Leasure.

Also:

Warren in Port Huron, who fixed our damaged trailer wheel while we were setting up for the concert.

Doug in Port Huron, who got us set up with Warren and also took us out to dinner before the show.

Jay Crook from Corpus Christi TX, who designed our special 1000th concert t-shirts and then came to the concert in Steubenville OH with his family.
