Jimmy Almost Jailed: Last Weekend in AZ
Tue., May. 6. 2008 2:58pm EDT

Even though our drummer was mistaken for a drifter and interrogated by a policeman in Flagstaff, the rest of our trip to Arizona last weekend was first class.

That's right; on Sunday morning while taking a walk outside our hotel, Jimmy "Vegas" Tanner was stopped by a local police officer and forced to answer a long list of questions about his identity. The officer offered no explanation until the end (and no apology afterward), saying they get a lot of "transients" in Flagstaff.

This forced us to come up with a new batch of nicknames, including "Jimmy 'Vegas' Transient" and "Jimmy 'Vegas' Slammer,'" since that's where he could have ended up. Just think: What happened with "Vegas" almost stayed in Flagstaff. :)

The rest of Jimmy's day went from rags to riches, as our friends Randy and Mandy Hyde treated us to an elegant brunch; followed by a flight to Mesa on a private plane piloted by Flagstaff concert coordinator Orville Wiseman; after which we were picked up in a Hummer H2 limousine by Doug and Christel Schaneberg, the folks who set the wheels in motion (both figuratively and literally) for our Sunday concert.

Our concerts in Sierra Vista (near Tucson), Flagstaff, and Mesa (near Phoenix), were all well attended by enthusiastic fans. Here's what some of them had to say:

Saw you guys in Sierra Vista Friday night and was blown away. You guys are awesome! Thank you for a wonderful evening of worship and fellowship. My wife and I had a great time. It would be awesome if all the churches in the area could get together and have a mass get together and Apologetix could come and throw down. Wow! That would be something. Hope you guys come back soon.

Thank you sooo much for the concert in Sierra Vista! Also thank you for singing "Baa! We're Lambs" for my daughter in the lobby after the concert, she wasn't feeling well at the time but she really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work spreading the Gospel and stay safe in your travels.

I really enjoyed the concert and the chance to meet you guys! I appreciate all that you do for the Lord and I pray that you will be blessed in the times to come.

Awesome concert in Flagstaff! Thanks so much for the experience, you guys rock something fierce! The "young adults" we brought with us from Lakeside were all blown away and had an awesome time as well. You truly have a God-given ministry that is so unique and so appealing to all. Keep up the awesome work.

Just wanted to thank you for a great show in Mesa. In song and word, your passion for the LORD showed through! My wife and I took our three youngest kids. Sitting in the front row gave them the perfect view to take close to 100 pictures between them. They had a wonderful time! Thank you for the personal attention you gave them when meeting you. It was an experience they will remember for a long time. When you come to AZ again, we will definitely be there in the front row. God Bless you.
