This Past Weekend in TN & SC
Sun., Feb. 8. 2009 5:23pm EST
The new ApologetiX twin-guitar line-up is getting plenty of exposure in 2009. We had two sold-out shows in Elizabethton TN this past Friday followed by another full house in Lancaster SC on Saturday. Fans also packed the place the previous two weekends in Murfreesboro TN, Centre AL, Cabot PA, and Bealeton VA.
Both of our new guitarists are quickly getting to know the ApologetiX fan base. Tom Milnes (rhymes with "illness") has already played 18 shows in 12 states. Tom Tincha (rhymes with "pinch ya"), who joined our ranks slightly later, has played eight shows in five states. And the boys are getting rave reviews wherever we go.
In our travels south for the first three weekends of the year, the two Toms (or as we call them, "TNT") have been blown away by their first taste of southern hospitality. The fine folks in South Carolina even power washed our bus while we were doing sound check this past Saturday.
Two weeks ago, when one of our bus tires shredded in Alabama, three of the guys from the show -- Steve, Jerry (J.B.), and Sam -- stayed up late (and wrecked a few of their industrial-strength tools) trying to help us change it. When their efforts proved unsuccessful, they got up early the next morning and convinced a local repair company to come early on Sunday morning and give us a discount rate.
Our other guitarist (and keyboardist), Bill "Happy" Hubauer (a nickname he acquired two weeks ago in Alabama), is still active with the band as our producer, and he plans to play with us one or two weekends a month, including this coming weekend in Michigan.
Here's a nice email we received from Dr. Steve Stewart, who coordinated the concert in Lancaster:Just wanted to thank you all for such a great show and a powerful testimony in song as well as in word. We pray God will continue to open doors for you to get the message out. Hope to have you back here sometime in the future. Here's another email from a fan who attended one of the Elizabethton concerts:Was at the concert in Elizabethton on Friday night -- took about 13 kids and 10 elders from our church. A lot of our group had never heard your music before. After the concert, they told me how much they loved the show and your music.
