ApologetiX in L.A., San Diego, Missouri, Indonesia
Thu., Jun. 26. 2003 11:04pm EDT

J. Jackson, lead singer for ApologetiX (That Christian Parody Band) here.

Well, we made it back safely from Vegas! We actually took our entire family on that trip -- four guys, four wives, eight kids and one on the way! No gambling, just lots of swimming, sight-seeing (Hoover Dam for example, plus Keith and I got to ride that roller coaster on top of the skyscraper and the one that drives right through the middle of town in the middle of a scale replica of New York).

It was the first time we had 17 of us at any concert outside of Pittsburgh. Keith's favorite part was the Star Trek Experience at the Hilton, Karl's was the Blue Man Group. I can't speak for Bill as to what his favorite part was, but I know he had a great time. I think I liked the Stratosphere the best ó what a view! The kids' favorite part had to be the hotel swimming pool! Of course, the very best part was just having our entire family along. Oh, yeah, we played a concert, too! That was very cool also :)

While in Vegas, Keith and I had lunch with Jerry Davison, the former lead singer and lyricist for Jacob's Trouble, a Christian rock band in the late '80's and early '90's of which I was (and still am) a big fan. I wrote a fan letter to Jerry in 1996, and he invited the whole band to visit him at his home in Atlanta on our first official tour later that year. I also ran into him at GMA Week in Nashville in 2000. He's a very nice and talented guy and is now involved in planting a Baptist church in Las Vegas. If you have the Third Day album, "Offerings," you'll recognize the song "These Thousand Hills," which Jerry originally wrote and recorded for Jacob's Trouble. If you've never heard Jacob's Trouble, check them out!

No concerts this weekend, but we'll be back at it on Monday! See below!

Our new single, "How You Rewind Me," is already getting airplay on many Christian rock stations across the country. However, whether or not there's a station near you, there's one station where every ApologetiX fan can tune into AND request the new single: ChristianRock.net

5. APOLOGETIX IN INDONESIA

Here's an email we received in the past week from Donny Nelson, who just left for a missionary trip to Indonesia:

"I am a Team Leader for a World Changers IMB Mission Project for High School Students going to Surabaya, Indonesia leaving on June 1st and returning on June 18th and you can believe that I am taking all of my Apologetix CD's to share with the Students of Indonesia. God has blessed you and it's obvious that you are all men seeking after God's own heart. I can't wait to share The Good News and some Apologetix's as well. May God continue to bless your ministry and may His light shine upon you. You're awesome. Phil 3: 7-11"

6. ONE OF WQFL'S TOP FIVE "LISTENER'S FAVORITE ARTISTS"

WQFL 101 FM in Rockford IL (the area where the band Cheap Trick got their start) recently published their survey results for "Listener's Favorite Artists," and, much to our amazement, ApologetiX was fourth behind Steven Curtis Chapman, Third Day and FFH. We didn't know the survey even existed! Thank you to our friends in Rockford, IL; Rockton, IL; Beloit, WI; Janesville WI and everywhere else in the area who always make our concerts there such a success. We'll be back in Rockton IL October 25! Hope to see you there!

7. ENCOURAGEMENT FROM CALIFORNIA

With the band preparing to visit California twice next week, it's great to get an email like this one we just received from the Golden State:

"Thank you for using this special talent for God's glory. I believe we are in a time were Christian creativity is very rare. Just recently we had a Kite Day at our church on Bethel Island, CA. (located just east of San Francisco) and we pumped your ėSpoofernatural' and ėKeep the Change' CD's over the 1000 W sound system. We noticed that the people who were hearing the music were trying to sing the words but would stop and they would look at each other with a puzzled look. Our sound team couldn't keep from laughing. We had three new families join the church that next Sunday because they all said this kinda of outreach is what they want to see would like to be part of. Your music was the catalyst they said. Our youth are moving away from emulating the world's music and seeing new ways to create because of your music. Anyway, Thanks."

Brian Phillips, Music and Youth, Bethel Island Baptist Church Bethel Island, CA

9. PRAYER REQUEST

Please pray for our friend Mieke, who lives in the Netherlands. She suffers from fibromyalgia, RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy), and bipolar disorder. She is also a borderline diabetic and has a bad knee. She has major back problems and cannot sit up for too long. She spends most of her day in pain, lying on her back, and she takes a plethora of medications that make her weary.

Apologetically,

J.
