This Past Weekend in IN & OH
Tue., Sep. 1. 2009 9:21am EDT
We took the Meatloaf approach to the three outdoor concerts we had scheduled for this past weekend in Roanoke IN, Geneva-on-the-Lake OH, and Thornville OH -- two out of three ain't bad.
We had to move the Indiana concert indoors because it had rained so much earlier in the day, but the indoor crowd almost blew the roof off the place with their enthusiasm. That's O.K., because it had stopped raining by then. The two Ohio concerts continued outside with beautiful weather, even though both had dark and threatening skies earlier in the day.
After our concert in Geneva-on-the-Lake Saturday night, we passed the Girls Gone Wild bus in town. We thought it was quite a contrast between them and ApologetiX, since we're a bunch of Guys Gone Mild. :) We would do anything for the Lord, but we won't do that!
Our regular sound guys couldn't make it this past weekend, but God provided paradise by the soundboard light to help our rock and roll themes come through. Mark Bodin, a local professional sound engineer who has run sound for and toured with many national rock, pop, country, and Christian artists, volunteered to man the helm for us. A longtime fan of ApologetiX, Mark said it was a dream come true to run sound for us. In fact, he turned down an offer from from 70's-and-80's superstar Eddie Money in order to be with us.
Despite his impressive credentials, Mark is extremely down to earth and really believes in the ministry of ApologetiX. We asked him lots of questions about other artists he'd worked with, and he also provided lots of great advice and ideas on how to get the most out of our sound system. What a blessing!
Here are some comments we received via email after the concerts:Thanks for the great concert last night (in Roanoke) guys. My wife and I brought several kids from our youth group in Lima OH. They all really enjoyed it. Several of the girls lost their voices! (That was a blessing for the hour-and-a-half bus trip home. :) Our group contains many kids from broken homes. Being able to take them to a free Christian concert, where they really got to "rock out" was a true blessing. My wife and I enjoyed watching them dance and get into the music.

I had the blessing of seeing you all live at the show in Roanoke yesterday. I was sick but I didn't want to miss it. You guys rocked the house and brought it down! My ex co-worker told me about you and I am so glad that he did! He is 50 and I am 52! We both enjoyed the show so much. We were blessed! This is the kind of "worship music" I love. I just wanted to thank you for your ministry and I will do my best to attend as many concerts as I can. My Son, Christian (12) went with me yesterday and he was blown away! Thank you so much again!

As always, good to see you, and, as always, a great concert (at Geneva-on-the-Lake). I could sit there and listen to you guys all night.

My husband and I were at your concert yesterday evening at Buckeye Lake (Thornville OH). I had only heard a little of your music on YouTube before last night. We enjoyed the concert so much! We are looking foreward to your next one in our area. Thank you for your ministry. I've got your CD's playing in my car and I'm sure the other drivers are wondering why I have such a big smile on my face!
