NEW CD UPDATE
As promised, here's the weekly update on the progress of our new CD, "Spoofernatural." Our lead guitarist and producer, Karl Messner, is spearheading this project in an effort to get the CD out in time for our November 21 release date. Keith has laid down the bass tracks on about 11 of the 19 songs, and Karl has already completed the guitar parts on at least four of the tracks. The CD booklet and all the rest of that part of the package is already at the printer. We are planning full-page color ads for the new CD in the December issues of HM (already confirmed) and CCM (God willing).
Our current plan is to release the CD to stores only for the first two weeks and then to make it available via the Net. We're going to send you a separate e-mail that tells you what stores stock ApologetiX in your area.
Rather than giving you a song list for "Spoofernatural," we've decided to tell you about two songs per week, so you have to pay attention to all of our upcoming e-mails to get the complete picture.
Track #1
If you come to one of our upcoming concerts, you'll hear this song first; it's our new opening number. If we tell you the title now, that'll give it away, so you'll have to wait a while to find out about that one.
Track #2
Song Title: "Fishin' on a Pier" This song is a parody of a #1 hit by a band that used a lot of hairspray in the 80's and is now enjoying a resurgence on the pop charts. They hail from a state that has had three stops on the 2000 ApologetiX tour. Hint: Karl had to buy a talk-box to complete this track. The message in this song is that, when we decide to dedicate our lives to Christ, God uses the talents we were born with and the skills we've developed over the years. Some of the apostles were called when they were fisherman, Christ taught them to be "fishers of men." The members of ApologetiX were called as musicians, and we're "fishin' on a pier" using parodies as our bait.
Track #3
Song Title: "Pray Now (Lost Art)" Although this is NOT a parody of a Doors song (It's a song from the summer of 1999 by a band we've spoofed before), the Doors lead singer Jim Morrison once said that "You cannot petition the Lord with prayer." Morrison was dead wrong. In fact, the New American Standard version of Ephesians 6:18 says this: "With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints ... " The Bible says clearly that we should pray continually (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and that we should keep praying about situations even when we don't get an instant answer (Luke 18:1). Some people say they don't want to bother God with trivial things, and I used to say that myself, but that's really just a cop-out, isn't it? The Bible says: "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." James says that we have not because we ask not. Jesus says to ask, seek and knock. And that's what this song is all about.
