Elvis Impersonators: This Past Weekend in TN & MS
Mon., Aug. 16. 2010 2:29pm EDT
Suspicious minds might look at this past weekend's tour stops and think we have an Elvis complex, with concerts in Mississippi, where he was born and spent his pre-teen years, and Tennessee, where he spent the rest of his life. But don't read too much into that. The chapels we played in were full of cheers -- not tears -- and the hotels we stayed in were anything but heartbreaking.
Were you lonesome those two nights? We weren't -- fans came from as far away as Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, and Louisiana.
Friday's concert in Chattanooga TN was our 18th overall in the Volunteer State. Saturday's show in Philadelphia MS was our seventh in the Magnolia State. Although it was our first show in Mississippi since 2006, they treated us so nice that we couldn't help falling in love with them, and we'd like to return to send our personal regards at least once a year.
We'll be back in Tennessee next month for a show in Tullahoma, but that's alright; we want to, we need to, we love to.
Here are some nice email comments we received later from our Mississippi promoter:Brother, it was awesome. It takes a lot to impress some of our folks and our folks were impressed. It was the best concert I've ever been to. Can't wait to have you back in Mississippi again!
Our folks were buzzing about the concert all day yesterday, making those who didn't come wish they had. People are talking about having ya'll back next year and some are talking about seeing what it would take to rent the county colosseum.
