Trailer Trashed: What Are We Trying to Pull?
Tue., Mar. 1. 2011 12:37pm EST
The ApologetiX trailer is trashed, and we've got to do something about it. We gave you a little bit of the trailer's history in the preamble to this week's newsletter. Its present is precarious, and its future looks blacker than the trailer itself.
The trailer's floorboards started to give way two years ago. Its fenders have been decimated (and re-decimated) by blown tires. Its brakes, lights, and sway bars are getting past the point of no repair. Now its roof is leaking onto our equipment.
Last weekend, our soundboard got drenched because of the leaky roof, which is cracked in two places. Amazingly, the soundboard survived ... this time.
We have made repairs as needed in the past few years, but it's time to get a new trailer. It went into the shop a month ago for repairs, and it's in the shop again this week for more repairs, but these are merely stopgap (but expensive) fixes.
Another problem is that we need more heavy-duty axles, which would help tremendously in carrying the weight. It might also reduce the number of blown tires we experience.
Keith has been shopping for trailers recently, and a new one will cost thousands of dollars. Unfortunately, like most of you, we're just surviving as it is. We talked to our accountant, and he thought it would be a good idea to mention it to our fans. Like us, he's been blown away by your generosity over the years.
We know the economy is tough, and we don't want you to feel any pressure to give. However, many of our fans have asked us to let them know when we encounter situations like this, so that's what we're doing.
If you can't give, please do not feel any compulsion to do so. We'll also gladly accept prayers on our behalf. Seriously.
If do you want to help financially, you can give a donation of any size via PayPal, credit card, bank card, or straight from your bank account at our secure site:
http://www.apologetix.com/store/store-donate.php
If you wish to donate by check or money order, please make them payable to "ApologetiX" and send to ApologetiX, 208 Charlemma Drive, PIttsburgh PA 15214-1414.
We will keep you posted about the status of the trailer, and if we get more than enough to take care of the trailer, we will apply the finances to other need areas of the ministry (There are many of those but we only like to tell you about the most urgent ones). Thank you.
