Why We're Still Waiting for the Bus
Wed., Apr. 18. 2012 10:46pm EDT
Despite our best efforts, our new shuttle bus isn't ready yet, so we're renting a van again for our shows in Illinois and Kansas.
The replacement alternator and windshield are installed, but the trailer-hitch package isn't. That'll take a bit of work to do safely and legally.
Our mechanic did say that the new alternator seems to have fixed our power problem, but it wound up requiring a new battery, too.
We can't install the six new tires till the hitch is done. And we've learned our lesson about re-treads; you can't take chances with a bus.
Thankfully, there was a rental van available, but it feels like pouring more money down the drain (about $1000 after mileage charges).
At least we'll have a road-tested vehicle for the 2100-plus miles, and gas is cheaper than diesel.
"Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but desire fulfilled is a tree of life." (Prov. 13:12). Both halves of that verse are true, and we look forward to the second half!
