So Why Haven't We Been Touring?
Fri., Jul. 29. 2016 11:45am EDT
We haven't played any concerts for the past nine months. Last week, we promised we would explain why soon. Here are the main reasons:
1. Since our keyboardist Chris VonBartheld moved to Florida last fall, we don't have an official fifth member right now who can commit to playing all of our shows if we tour regularly. Todd or Wayne could each possibly do some but probably not all. It's challenging to tour with multiple line-ups (been there, done that), and this band can't pay a musician enough to be at our beck and call.
2. Tom Tincha has been taking a truck-driving class on weekends for the past five months in order to get his Class A Commercial Driver's License. He just got that license, but his new job will probably limit his ability to play Friday concerts, although he should still be able to play Saturday shows, and he does still want to play.
3. Our touring vehicle isn't in the greatest shape (you can read more about that elsewhere in this week's newsletter), and neither is our lighting system.
4. It's a lot harder to book financially feasible concerts in this economy than it used to be.
Of course, being off the road has its fringe benefits. We've really loved being able to spend so much time with our families. Furthermore, we're able to spend a lot more time in the studio, which has enabled us to put out two songs every two weeks, and four CDs a year!
That doesn't mean we won't tour again. We still love playing. So it could still happen once some of those issues are worked out. Please pray that God will guide and provide and that we will follow His lead.
