Howard Stern Making New Fans for ApologetiX?
Tue., May. 3. 2005 12:35pm EDT
As many of you know, controversial radio and T.V. personality Howard Stern has featured ApologetiX parodies on his radio show at least four different times over the years (each time Howard played a few parodies), the first being in late 2001.
That may be a dubious distinction, but we've always felt that God would use it in some way, because His Word never comes back void. Consequently, we were delighted to receive the following email this week:
"I am a new fan. Please don't get offended, but I heard of your music on the Howard Stern show. He played two of your songs, and I really liked them. He played the Bruce Springsteen, and the Blue Oyster Cult songs. I've wanted to get your albums ever since then, but could not find a place to buy them.
"I finally found a bunch of your albums at a Christian store. I have now ordered the last six albums I need to have the whole set ... I was really impressed with how well you guys do the songs. The other artists who do song parodies often times shorten the song, but for the most part you guys keep most if not all the song in tact. I was most impressed with how you guys did the Clash 'Should I Stay or Should I Go' song. You really did that song down to a 't' -- even making that 'blech' sound in the right place.
"I really enjoy your music, and I hope to be able to go to your concert here in Michigan next year ... I am a blind person ... I have a guide dog, his name is Kody. You guys wouldn't mind if I brought him with me to your concert would you?"

Ironically, we have another blind fan who is from Ann Arbor and sometimes brings his guide dog. We let Dan know that when we responded to his email.
