Another ApX Top 10 from Dayton OH
Fri., Feb. 4. 2022 12:13am EST
In late November 2021, a fan in Wyoming sent us her Top 10 favorite ApX songs and suggested we invite other fans to do the same for a possible regular feature in our newsletter. Since then, we've shared lists from fans in Kansas, Pennsylvania, New York, Georgia, and Indiana.
Now here's one from a fan in Ohio:
I've come up with my top 10 list of ApologetiX vocal stylings. This was hard! There are so many different styles that are so good! It might be easier to come up with 10 categories of stylings. That would allow more songs to be listed as examples.
Whittling the list down to just 10 does not do justice to the capabilities of the band, but at least for this trip through the ApologetiX library, here's what I came up with:
1. Dweebs
2. Hell Is Warmer
3. Bone Digger
4. The Devil Went Down to Jordan
5. Manger
6. Xerxes' Song
7. He Hears Me
8. Lamentations Song
9. Mama Told Me (What's to Come)
10. 80's Medley: Octagon but Not Forgotten
Bonus pick: You Gotta Go (2018 version)
The #1 pick is #1 (so far) because that one is so spot on, the original artist could claim to have sung it with his band. #2 through #9 could be in any order (as could #11-#48, etc., which are waiting in line impatiently for me to move them up). #10 could also be #1, but I put it at #10 because there are 10 songs in that medley. So I guess I did manage to get some extra songs in my top 10!
I included a bonus track because that one, though not sung by Mr. Jackson, was also so well done, it warranted mention in this list.
The list does not include any songs originally sung by Burton Cummings, Lou Gramm, Mickey Thomas, Paul Stanley, Danny Joe Brown, Marshall Mathers, Bon Scott, Brian Johnson, Rob Halford, Jack Hues, Ben Orr, Layne Staley, Darius Rucker, Kevin Rowland, Roger Daltrey, Rod Stewart, Elton John ... but it could have. You sound so much like all of them, but I only had 10 slots available. Maybe I need to do a "Top 10 List of Top 10 Vocal Stylings."
I can't wait to hear what's next! Thank you for what you do. We all love and appreciate the efforts, musically and spiritually.
