Tom Tincha Released from Hospital, Still Needs Prayer
Thu., Feb. 3. 2022 5:22pm EST
As we shared in last week's newsletter, ApX guitarist Tom Tincha was hospitalized last week for serious abdominal problems. For more details on that, you can read the story at http://apologetix.com/news/news-details.php?news_id=4389
Tom was released from the hospital this week on Tuesday afternoon. Here are the updates we have received over the past several days from his wife, Deborah:
MONDAY AFTERNOON
"Tom is still here in the hospital and on the two IV antibiotics. We are waiting for the infectious disease doctor to get the lab cultures back from what they extracted out of the abscess. They have identified three out of the four kinds of bacteria. Once all bacteria are identified, they will be changing his IV antibiotics to handle all four.
"The infectious disease doctor already knows what he is getting within the IV antibiotics is not taking care of one of those bacteria. So, with that said, we have to wait for the full labs back. They will then give him new IV antibiotics regimen and observe him to make sure there are no adverse reactions.
"The plan then is to send him home with an IV port, where he would have to have the new IV antibiotics given to him at home for the next two weeks. If they do not do this, because of the bacteria, he could wind up back in the hospital and everything would start all over again. The infectious disease doctor doesn't want that and, of course, neither do we.
"He is now eating more solid foods. He is up and moving around and feels the best today he's felt in weeks. So praise God for that!
"Also, his oldest brother, Jim, had a heart attack and has 90 percent blockage in his heart. He is one floor below where Tom is in the same hospital. They will be doing a triple bypass tomorrow. Please continue to keep Tom and me in prayer and also add his brother Jim and wife, Patty, too! Thank you!"
TUESDAY AFTERNOON
"Tom was just released from hospital, and we just got home. He will be home from work till mid-February and was sent home with a pick line in his arm so he can get daily IV antibiotic as well as oral antibiotic meds so that he doesn't get an infected abscess again and the hole in his colon heals. He is feeling a bit weak and a little nauseous, but I got him set up on the sofa to rest and recover."
THURSDAY AFTERNOON
"The home healthcare nurse was here just a little bit ago. Tom's feeling very tired, nauseous, and has a headache. If his nausea doesn't improve, I will be asking the doctor for some anti-nausea meds.
"Jim had his triple bypass the other day. Patty called this morning and said he was sitting up and eating a little bit. Still in ICU, though."
Please join us in praying for Tom and Deborah and Tom's brother Jim. He is a friend of the band and has been on road trips with us before. We like that guy a lot! Thank you.
