Sun., July 3: Kentucky (Also Fri., July 8)
Sun., Jun. 26. 2005 1:34pm EDT
Although ApologetiX is based in Pittsburgh, PA, lead singer J. Jackson's wife, Lisa, grew up in Mayfield KY (not far from Paducah KY, home of contemporary Christian music star Steven Curtis Chapman) and attended the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
Consequently, it'll be a double homecoming for J. and his family the first full week of July, when ApologetiX returns to the Bluegrass State for concerts in Mayfield on Sunday, July 3, and Lexington on Friday, July 8.
We've played many concerts in Kentucky, but our last concert in Mayfield was in July 2003, although we rang in 2005 with a New Year's Eve concert in nearby Smithland KY. Our only previous show in Lexington was in April 2001, where we first met ApologetiX superfan Dave Barnett, who is coordinating the July 8 concert.
Dave, who has ridden his motorcyle to many ApologetiX concerts in multiple states, adds:
"I would love to get a lot of my biker friends (and bikers who are yet to become my friends) to come out and see the show. Let's issue a challenge for bikers with an incentive such as 'If 20 motorcycles are riden to the church for the concert, the band will play "Born-Again Child," a seldom-heard unreleased ApologetiX classic.' What do you think?"
Sure, Dave, no problem. If 20 motorcycles are ridden to the church for that concert, we'll play "Born-Again Child."
