ApologetiX in Missouri, Colorado
Wed., Oct. 9. 2002 11:57pm EDT
J. Jackson, lead singer for ApologetiX (That Christian Parody Band) here.
Today was a real blast from the past. I was eating dinner at a local restaurant with my wife, Lisa, and our baby daughter, Heather, when I ran into our original drummer, Jeff Pakula. An hour later, while I was dropping off our older daughter, Janna, at church, I ran into our original bass player, Jerry Hayostek. The only original member I haven't run into is our original rhythm guitarist (and later bass player), Andy Sparks.
Poor Jerry. His wife, Kristen, died of cancer this past summer, leaving him with seven kids, ages 13 to one. Although he has received much support from his church, he now has to have a full-time nanny to help and is working several jobs to take care of things.
God brought Jerry to ApologetiX at a time when we desperately needed a bass player (believe it or not, we played our first concert without a bass player, and our drummer wasn't even able to make it!), and he was a great addition, playing with us from spring 1992 until early 1993, and then briefly again later in 1993. He also arranged for us to have our first big-time mixing board for the recording of our first "live" cassette and our last studio cassette, "Isn't Wasn't Ain't."
Please pray for Jerry. He's going through a very tough time right now and has asked for our prayers.

1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out that you can stand up under it.
