ApologetiX in Alaska (Five States to Go)
Mon., Jul. 18. 2005 10:20am EDT
We've just finalized plans for our first concert in Alaska! It's scheduled for Fairbanks this coming New Year's Eve.
Guess who's sponsoring it ... The North Pole Christian School! No kidding. Needless to say, we're very excited, especially our bass player, Keith "Snow Miser" Haynie.
Since we booked that concert, a youth pastor in Anchorage has expressed interest in possibly booking a second Alaska show.
Alaska is one of only six states we've yet to play. Although it's only 3090 miles from our homebase in Pittsburgh, somehow we thought we'd make it to a few of the other five (Delaware, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Rhode Island) first. Of course, there are still plenty of fall dates left to book, so maybe we will.
Pennsylvania is so close to Delaware and Rhode Island -- we can't believe we haven't played in either of those states yet. And North Dakota, Montana and Idaho are right in a row -- although there's a lot of ground to cover.
We've come very close to doing concerts in Delaware (almost did a festival there in 1999), Idaho (couldn't get plans finalized) and North Dakota (2002 and 2003 right over the border from Fargo ND in Detroit Lakes MN) in the past.
We realize that Delaware and Rhode Island are small states and that the other three are not highly populous states, but we could easily do Delaware and Rhode Island in the same trip and then North Dakota, Montana and Idaho in another.
Those aren't just items on our checklist -- we'd really love to come out to visit those states. If you live in one of those states and have leads or ideas for a potential concert, please email karl@apologetix.com. Thanks!
