ApologetiX in MN, MI and NC This Weekend
Thu., Sep. 19. 2002 1:00pm EDT

J. Jackson, lead singer for ApologetiX (That Christian Parody Band) here.

I'm emailing you from the plane on the way back from sweet home Alabama, where we played a concert last night. The people there were great, and we had a wonderful time.

After we got home (to Pittsburgh) from Hawaii on Monday, I got to see my daughters until their bed time (Lisa had been with me in Hawaii), and then I took off for Bowling Green, KY, where the repairs on our van were finally finished (You may remember that a month or so ago, our van was wrecked in an accident.)

Later this afternoon we get to see our families (finally), but tomorrow morning it's back in the plane. We love to travel, to play, to spread God's Word and to meet you all, but we're looking forward to next week when we get to spend more time with our wives and kids during the week.

"Smooth Grandmama," the first single from our new "Grace Period" CD, continues to rise on the national Christian rock chart, moving up five notches to #23 in its third week on the chart. Thanks to all the DJs out there who are playing it and all of you fans who are requesting it!

All ApologetiX fans can do their part to increase the exposure of "Smooth Grandmama" by requesting it at christianrock.net, a great place to hear all the latest Christian rock songs on the Internet. If you haven't checked out the site yet, please do so. Your requests will help determine how high "Smooth Grandmama" goes on the christianrock.net charts.

4. APOLOGETIX ON HOWARD STERN AGAIN

We received word that Howard Stern played a number of cuts from our new CD, "Grace Period," on his CD this past Tuesday. This is the third time Stern has played our material on his show.

5. COMMENTS FROM RECENT CONCERTS

Thanks to all of you who send us such encouraging emails. We can't print them all, but here are few from recent concerts:

We are so glad you had a concert in Hawaii. We enjoy all types of Christian music but your group stands out at the top of our list. We said if you ever made it to Hawaii we would make sure to make it to your concert and we did! You did an awesome job Friday night at the Hawaii Theatre! We enjoyed every song. We enjoy all the songs you have selected to parody. The message each song sends or story it tells is awesome. It is awesome how J can sound so much like so many different singers and Karl's electric guitar playing is unbelievable. Everyone in the band does an awesome job! We always enjoyed your music but what made us appreciate your group even more after seeing you in concert was your greatsense of humor and wittiness. I have to believe God smiles at the joy your songs and wit bring to your audience. You have a great ministry going on! Thank you for touching are lives with God's messages. May God bless you and your families as you continue on, what looks like a busy, tour schedule.

Sam & Lisa Hankins Kailua HI

I caught your show in Clymer PA last night and just wanted to say thanks. My wife and I are the Youth leaders for the Kinport Assembly of God church which is about 15 miles from Clymer. I/we have been following your band for several years and have even been inspired to do a couple of our own parodies. Anyhow, through our band we have been able to touch a lot of kids and our youth group keeps growing, however there are always some kids that never seem to quite "get it". On the way home last night one of our kids said that he "said the salvation prayer and meant it this time". Sometimes the ones in your own backyard are the hardest to reach. Thanks for confirming to the kids that it's cool to be a Christian and love the lord.

I had a great time at the Saddleback church ApologetiX show (in Orange County, CA) last Aug. 29th. It was one of the best concerts I have been to in my life, and I have been to a few. Now, instead of really like'n these guys, I luv these guys. I have made plans for a "road trip" to Phoenix, AZ for the Oct. 5th & 6th shows at the First Baptist Church of Phoenix. Me and four of my friends, twoof which missed the Saddleback show, are going to rent a car and head on out to Phoenix. I've never done that before; I have been praying and have a really good feeling about this. I can't wait to see them again. Anyway, the reason I am writing is because I love the message these guys are sending out, and I love the way they are doing it.

6. PHOTOS ON THE WEBSITE

In case you missed our little blurb last week, we are now posting photos from our concerts on apologetix.com. In most cases, the photos go up within 24 hours of the concert where they're taken. Here's the link:

7. APOLOGETIX IN LIFEWAY STORES

Great news! All Lifeway Christian bookstores will soon be stocking ApologetiX CDs. Up until this point, some Lifeway stores had our CDs, but most didn't, because they tend to focus more to softer side of Christian music. Within the next few weeks, however, all Lifeway stores should ApologetiX CDs in stock.
