Sat. & Sun.: Two Concerts in the Pittsburgh Area
Sat., Oct. 22. 2005 8:10am EDT
Although we'll play more states this year than ever before (at least 33 played or booked, with more in the works), we've also been trying to increase the opportunities for our hometown fans to see us.
Saturday and Sunday, we'll play two concerts within a 15-mile radius of downtown Pittsburgh: Wilmerding PA and Penn Hills PA.
For you trivia buffs, Wilmerding is recognized as the first planned community in the United States, founded by inventor-industrialist George Westinghouse, who also founded Westinghouse Corp. back in the 1970's. Penn Hills, meanwhile, is Pittsburgh's largest suburb, and the largest suburb in Allegheny County.
On a humorous note, Wilmerding was also part of the punchline in commercials for Pittsburgh's first fast-food chain, Winky's. The ads lamented that there were "No Winky's in Wilmerding."
