This Past Weekend in Pittsburgh
Mon., Oct. 24. 2005 12:06pm EDT
It almost felt like a weekend off. We played two concerts within 15 miles of our Pittsburgh home base this past Saturday (Wilmerding PA) and Sunday (Penn Hills PA), and many of our family members were in attendance, including wives, kids, parents, siblings, and cousins.
That family reunion, combined with "the regulars" and other fans who've been following us as far back as 1992 (our first year as ApologetiX), made for a real homecoming feel. All we needed was Bill and Gloria Gaither.
Hey, if everybody else can have their homecomings in October, why can't we? And to further authenticate the atmosphere, all of our local football teams (Pittsburgh Steelers, Pitt Panthers and Penn State Nittany Lions) won.
Both concerts were coordinated by longtime friends and fans, Joy Kitay (ApologetiX cardmember since 1992) and Michelle "Mrs. Stealth" Irwin, whom we first met through the Sons of God Motorcycle Club in 1995. Special thanks to Greg and Heidi Micher, who ran the sound and the CD table at both concerts, in addition to numerous other helpful things, and to everybody else who assisted.
