This Past Sunday in Vero Beach FL
Mon., Nov. 14. 2005 11:35am EST
About a thousand people crammed into our concert this past Sunday, November 13, in Vero Beach FL -- making it standing room only. We're told that a high-ranking official in the L.A. Dodgers organization (Vero Beach FL is their home for spring training) was there, too, and he told the promoters he'd give the show a "10"!
The event was a fundraiser for Jerry West, not the former basketball player, but a former member of the Power Team, the nationally known Christian bodybuilding and weightlifting group. Jerry is battling cancer and needs a bone-marrow transplant. Thanks to the generosity of those in attendance, almost $9000 was raised!
Special thanks to:
Cameron Mays and Scott Shrives from Youth for Christ, who coordinated the event; to Cameron's teenage son Walter, who first suggested us to his dad; and to Anne and Nancy (no, not the ladies from the rock group Heart), who took care of our CD table.
Bart Mazzarella and Bruce Douglas, the Good Guys in the Morning at WSCF 91.9 Christian FM, who promoted the show, interviewed us earlier in the week, and kept us entertained backstage before the show ... not to mention all the times they've played our parodies and interviewed us over the years.
Donnelyn Khourie and her band, who played before us for the second time this year and did a fine job. They're a great bunch of folks! Special thanks to Ace, their guitarist (not THAT one) who took most of the photos on our site for the show. Thanks also to Richard and Gina, who drove three hours from St. Petersburg to see us, as they did earlier this year at our concert in Port St. Lucie.
