ApologetiX in Canada and NY Plus 2002 Schedule
Sat., Dec. 29. 2001 2:13pm EST

J. Jackson, lead singer for ApologetiX (That Christian Parody Band) here.

1. Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it STOP!
2. Concerts Sunday and Monday in Toronto ON and Rochester NY
3. 2002 Concert Schedule Thus Far

1. LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT STOP!

Let me be one of the first to wish you a Happy New Year! Now, will the person who wished ApologetiX a white Christmas please stop?

I don't know if you've been watching the weather reports, but Buffalo, NY, is in the middle of a record snow storm, dumping a potential 7-10 feet of snow on the area before all is said and done. Well, you see, we're playing in Toronto, ON, and East Rochester, NY, this weekend, and guess what city we ordinarily go through to get there ó Buffalo! Now we're looking at an alternate route through Detroit, which would add about five hours to our journey to Canada.

Furthermore, we're told that travelers to the youth convention where we are playing Sunday have had a difficult time making in through customs, because of heightened security, facing delays that have taken hours. With us taking a 15-passenger van full of people and luggage and musical equipment, there's a good chance we'll face delays too. If you think of us, please pray that we are able to make it to Canada and back without any hassles. We'd really appreciate it.

The good news is that Pastor Samme Palermo tells us that East Rochester only got a half inch or so of snow, so provided we have no hassles getting back across the Canadian border into the United States, we should be fine on that end. But we still need to take a route that doesn't go through Buffalo, so there will be additional time required there. Please pray for us! I know there are probably much more pressing issues in your life and certainly much more important things going on in the world, but we know that God is concerned with the little things, too, and we ask for your prayers.

2. CONCERTS THIS SUNDAY AND MONDAY IN TORONTO ON AND ROCHESTER NY

Yes, ApologetiX is finally coming to Canada ... and we'll be back for our third concert in East Rochester NY with Pastor Samme Palermo of Uncle Samoo's Zoo on WITR ... God willing and the snow don't rise (above our heads)!

My family went to Ontario on vacation a couple of times when I was a wee lad. We returned to Toronto when I was in seventh grade and then again in tenth grade on our way up to Montreal in Quebec. I haven't been back since, except for a brief trip across the border to Niagara Falls in the summer of my junior year in college. However, we are still qualified, if you consider that:

A) I was a big fan of the Canadian-based SCTV comedy show with John Candy, Rick Moranis, Dave Thomas, Martin Short, Joe Flaherty, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin and Kate O'Hara; Plus I rooted for the Blue Jays to beat the Braves in the 1992 World Series (Sorry, Atlanta ApologetiX fans, but you DID beat our beloved Pittsburgh Pirates, after all.) And I know all the words to "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Canadian singer/songwriter Gordon Lightfoot.

B) Our bass player, Keith, LOVES Canada's own Bachman-Turner Overdrive; He even owns an album by Brave Belt, Randy Bachman's group from in between the Guess Who and B.T.O.

C) Our guitarist/producer, Karl Messner, is fluent in French.

D) Our drummer, Bill Rieger, was such a big fan of Canadian power trio Rush that he snuck on stage before the Pittsburgh concert on their 1987-88 "Hold Your Fire" tour, so he could bask in the aura of Neil Peart's drums!

You've got to admit, it looks like we were BORN to play in Canada!

PRAYER REQUESTS AND PRAISE REPORTS

These two are from Chris Rieger, wife of our drummer, Bill.

"Well, it's certainly a miracle. When our friend Lisa Roberts went back for a follow up appointment, she was told the tumors are insignificant at this point. What happened is this: When she went for her tests that showed the five tumors as coming on suddenly and significant, they used a new machine that does better scans. The spots they found are spots that have always been there but on the new machine, they looked large and ominous. On comparison with old scans they found the size of them is truly insignificant. The "how" of it is confusing, the end result is it truly is a miracle. She still is looking to qualify for the clinical trial in New York but in the meantime, she'll still have to get scans done every 3 months. Thanks for prayers and concern."

Apologetically,

J.
