This Past Weekend in Upstate NY
Sun., Dec. 10. 2006 2:59pm EST
(Cue up Led Zeppelin III): "Well, we've come from the land of the ice and snow in a big white van with a lot in tow."
Actually, aside from some minor thermostat problems with the van, things went smoothly in the snow belt this past weekend on our trip to Upstate New York (Brockport, Ontario and Elmira Heights). The weather was nippy but not too "slippy," even with the dreaded lake effect.
Special thanks to:
Our concert coordinators, Gary Wandel (Brockport), Wayne "Dr. Johnny Fever" Richardson (Ontario), and Ann Weimer (Elmira Heights).
Our opening band: The Christian Brothers Band (Ontario), a great Christian parody band at based out of the church who got their start doing covers of ApologetiX parodies and later moved on to their own. These guys are great musicians, and we were honored to have them join us during our part of the show for a communal performance of "Hotel Can't Afford Ya."
Our merchandise coordinators, Jim (Brockport and Ontario); Katrina and Wendy (Brockport); Teresa and Marie (Ontario); and Jenn and Nathan (Elmira Heights).
Our roadies: Rich and Marie (Ontario); and Micah (Elmira Heights).
Our radio support: John and Denny on the Family Life Network.
Honorable mention to our Pittsburgh pals Rich and Marie Polick, who added New York to the fast-growing list of states where they've seen us play. In addition to being regulars at our concerts in Pennsylvania and Ohio, they've also seen us in North Carolina, Maryland, Michigan, and Illinois this year.
