1) APOLOGETIX NAMED "HOTTEST BAND OF THE SUMMER 2001"
The Ultimate Christian Band List features nearly 900 Christian bands. Much to our surprise, we've just been notified that the site has named ApologetiX "The Hottest Band of Summer 2001." When I received the notification, of course, I had to check the site just to make sure they didn't mean "The Hottest Pittsburgh-Based Christian Parody Band of Summer 2001 So Far" or something like that. Nope. It was the real deal. There's a big feature on the site and everything. Well, we're honored and delighted, and we wanted to share our joy with you! If you'd like to check out the site yourself, go to: http://bandlist.christianpoet.net/
2) CONCERT THIS WEEK IN OHIO AND NORTH CAROLINA
Thanks to all of you who came out to see us in Harrison City, PA, and in Butler, OH. We had a great time at both events! With two long sets on Saturday, we actually dusted off a few oldies and even attempted one song from "Spoofernatural" that we'd never tried in concert before -- "Pray Now (Lost Art)." When we decided to do that song on the spot by request, you can bet a few of us in the band definitely thought it was time to "pray now." We're scheduled to come back to Butler, OH, on September 29, but we'll be back in Ohio in just a couple days!
We play three (count 'em) sets at the Alive 2001 festival in Canal Fulton OH (near Canton, home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame) this coming Wednesday, and then we'll be at the big Shout 2001 festival in Charlotte NC this coming Saturday. Hope to see you all there!

3) "SPOOFERNATURAL" HITS #18 ON SPRING ARBOR'S LIST OF TOP-SELLING CDS
As you may already know, ApologetiX CDs are available to all Christian stores through the four major Christian book distributors, New Day, Ingram-Spring Arbor, Riverside and Central South. We discovered recently that our "Spoofernatural" CD was the #18 best seller in April 2001. As a Christian band, we're not into competing with other Christian artists, but to put things in perspective, during that time period, the "Spoofernatural" CD outsold such notable recent releases as the new greatest hits collections by Audio Adrenaline and Newsboys. I confess that I have all three of those releases, so I didn't buy my copy of "Spoofernatural," so I did my part to keep things fair! LOL
4) MORE INFO ON THE NEW CD
In case you were skimming our last e-mail, we'd like to announce again that our sixth CD, "Keep the Change," is scheduled for a September 25 street date. We had various title ideas for the new CD, but we finally settled on "Keep the Change" after taking a poll of people like fellow musicians, music salesmen/buyers, DJs, family members, and people who have been with ApologetiX for many years.
Ironically, if you count Bon Jovi's "Young Guns" album along with his group efforts (as his greatest hits CD does), then "Keep the Faith" was his sixth CD, just as "Keep the Change" is our sixth CD. You'd think that we'd be the ones coming up with "Keep the Faith," and he'd be the one doing "Keep the Change." But, actually, we weren't attempting to spoof the Jovial one; we took care of that on "Spoofernatural." He can do what he wants; it's HIS life, after all. We like the title "Keep the Change," because we change songs and Christ changes hearts ó and that's a change you get to keep. Of course, our new drummer, Bill Rieger, is still holding out hope that we'll change our minds and call it "2001: A Space Parody." But that's another story ... one that even includes Bill and Karl getting their picture taken at Wal-Mart with an old lady in an Easter Bunny costume.
Speaking of Bill, he will do the lion's share of the drumming duties on this one, but long-time ApologetiX official stand-by drummer, Keith Harrold, will also contribute several tracks. A veteran sales rep for Word Records, Keith has filled in for ApologetiX at least once a year for virtually every year since 1992, and there have been stretches when we were between drummers that Keith was our only drummer. It's about time we got him on CD, don't you think? Of course, those of you really hard-core fans may already know that Keith did play all the drums on our 1993 studio cassette-only release, "Isn't Wasn't Ain't," which is now out of print. We are also pleased to announce that Bill Hubauer, who has done such a stellar job on our last three CDs, will once again be "Liberace-ing What Jesus Spoke Of" on this CD! We don't know what we'd do without him.
God bless you all!
Apologetically,
J.
