ApologetiX New CD: Reviews, Getting It Online & In Stores
Sat., Dec. 2. 2000 2:19am EST

J. Jackson, lead singer and lyricist for ApologetiX (That Christian Parody Band) here!

I have many things I'd like to share with you:

1. What they're saying about "Spoofernatural"
2. If your store said they couldn't get it, they can get it now
3. If your store didn't have it in stock, they may have it now
4. Ordering the new CD online
5. "Spoofernatural" & the Christian music charts
6. ApologetiX on K-LOVE and Monumental Air Show
7. New Christmas CD by ApologetiX keyboardist
8. New Christian radio station in Pittsburgh area (Greensburg, PA - J's hometown!)
9. "Spoofernatual" Song List
9. December concert schedule

Boy, have we gotten a lot of responses about our new CD, "Spoofernatural," which was just released to stores on Tuesday, November 21. Thanks to everyone who ran out to the store and picked it up right away. Our apologies to those of you who went to your local stores (even some stores on our list) and found it was either sold out or wasn't yet available at that store. I have some good news for you about that later in this e-mail.

I'm happy to report that we are getting splendid comments. Everyone who has heard the CD seems to enjoy it. Here are a dozen representative samples:

I just wanted to let you know how much Jim and I LOVE the new CD. I was at the store this afternoon, fighting the snow, to get our copy. The store manager hadn't had a chance to get them into the bins yet. So I told him about your email campaign and he got someone on it right away. I hope you didn't lose any sales because of it. Anyway, we haven't had it long enough to have a favorite song yet, but we are planning this Sunday's youth group meeting around the song "I Want in That Place" Kathy Lewis - New York

Well, I got your (new) CD. Love it. I went to the Promise Box on the 21st, but they didn't have it ... Saturday, when I got there I was asked if I was on their waiting list. But I was lucky I did get one. A waiting list....NOW THAT IS A GOOD SIGN....God bless you guys and I love you and the message your giving. Val Marzili - New Jersey

Thank you so much for the great new CD!! It has blessed me and others bountifully already! My personal favorite is "Rock This Tower". You guys nailed that one!!! And "Trooth" was also very well done!! Ron Bonnevie - Maine

Just got the new CD here in Jacksonville, FL. Absolutely love it! it it the best one yet! Probably my favorite is "Pray Now" because you do his voice so well. And the guitar work on "Trooth" is superb. Laura Frederick - Florida

We got the CD on the 21st. The kids love it (wife loves El-ijah too!) Jeff James - Ohio

I was told the Berean Bookstore here in Decatur and their 3 other stores sold out just about an hour after they put the disk out. Finally got one on a new order today. Travis Harris - Illinois

Wow! I bought your new CD in Mayfield, KY this past Tuesday and all I can say is Awesome! Janice Barber - Kentucky

Just wanted to let you know that I picked up the new CD yesterday... AND I LOVE IT!!! Thanks and keep up the good work. Mike B

Scott and I just wanted to say hi and congratulations on the new CD!! IT'S AWESOME!! We've been telling everyone about it! Sonya LaPlante

Got them J. Love the cd. We cant wait to promote it. We will include in our seminar Smash Mouth or Ricky Martin. Phil Chalmers, Chalmers Music Seminars

Last night, I picked up "Spoofernatural" at the Grand Rapids Baker Bookhouse. My wife and I both agree that this is an incredible disk. We both got a huge kick out of "Choirboy", especially since you would never get any lyrics like that from Kid Rock. Great job on the Joe Elliot-type vocals on "Learn Some Deuteronomy". Excellent disk. Tim Hamm - Michigan

The new CD is awesome!!!!! We bought Spoofernatural first thing yesterday and are both very much impressed!!! What a great CD, there is something on it for everyone!!! Keep it up!!! Dante and Lori Bevilacqua

Some of you were told by your stores that they couldn't order "Spoofernatural." This is incorrect. All stores can order "Spoofernatural" through the major distributors: New Day, Riverside and Spring Arbor. All of these distibutors placed large orders for "Spoofernatural" from us several weeks ago. If any of those distributors didn't seem to have it in stock when your store clerk checked, it should show up now.

If you ask someone at your local store and they tell you they can't find it on the system, the chances are, they just don't know how to look it up in the system. Ask if you can talk to the manager or to the music buyer. They will know how to look it up on the system. Pick up a copy of the new "CCM" magazine on your store's magazine rack and show them the full-page ad for "Spoofernatual" on the inside front cover. They can look us up by group name or by title. If they are still having trouble finding ApologetiX, here is a sure-fire way for them to find us: Have them look up the UPC code for our CDs. Here they are:

UPC Codes: Spoofernatural 6 51968-0005-2 8
Biblical Graffiti 6 51968-0004-2 9
Jesus Christ Morningstar 6 51968-0002-2 1
Ticked 6 51968-0001-2 2
Radical History Tour 6 51968-0003-2 0

If your store has a ReSound unit that plays CD samples, you can look up ApologetiX on that unit, and show them our first four CDs. It'll show the covers, list the songs and play them all. ApologetiX is in all the ReSound units.

If your store would like to get a discount on their CDs plus free shipping and a free demo CD, please give them the phone number of our retail relationship manager, Tim Hetchler. Tim personally takes care of all the stores who carry ApologetiX. He makes sure they have everything they need and they get the best deal. Free freight on all orders and free demo with their first order. Tim is a great guy and also represents the Billy Graham Evangelism Association's books and films, so your local store may already know him.

Again, we apologize for those who you who rushed out to your local store only to find out that they didn't have "Spoofernatural" in stock yet.

Here's an explanation:

1. Some of the stores ordered it through distributors and didn't have it yet, because certain distributors held it back until the release date. That shouldn't be a problem now. They should have it in stock.

2. Some of the stores stocked our older CDs but hadn't ordered "Spoofernatural" yet. Many more stores have ordered "Spoofernatural" in the past 10 days.

For our fans in the Pittsburgh, PA area: "Spoofernatural " is now in stock at all the major Christian bookstores in the greater Pittsburgh area, including: Majesty (Greensburg, PA), Gospel Treasures (Washington, PA), and the Family Christian stores in Robinson Town Centre, Bridgeville, Monroeville, Natrona Heights, West Mifflin and Wexford. The new Cranberry store isn't stocking "Spoofernatural" yet, but if you go and request it from them, I'm sure they'll place an order. They've ordered in the past. Our drummer, Fred Behanna, will be happy to discover we are actually now stocked in a store in Uniontown, PA. When Fred doesn't know where something is located, he always says it's in "Uniontown, PA."

For our fans in the Rockford IL/Beloit WI/Janesville WI area: The CDs are now in stock at Rockford and Beloit Bible Books. We're so sorry that there were so many of you who went home empty-handed.

For our fans in Texas/Oklahoma who went to the Mardel stores: Mardel placed a big order of "Spoofernatural" CDs weeks ago and was sent them in plenty of time. However, certain stores seemed not to have them for the release date. My only guess is that headquarters might have held them back till the release date. They should be in stock by now.

For the first two weeks, we were asking for our fans to try to buy "Spoofernatural" at their local stores. However, we do intend to make it available via our website soon. But for those of you who can't wait, there is a place where you can buy "Spoofernatural" online right now through Christian Book Distributors (CBD):

Howdy, this is Karl Messner, lead guitarist and producer for ApologetiX.

We made it. Well, almost. Thanks to you guys, ApologetiX did indeed make a blip on the National Christian Music Scene. We learned a lot too, in this process. As a matter of fact, I just got word from the ratings people that ApologetiX came within 322 CDs of actually being on the Top 50 Album Sales for the week! Considering the fact that many of the stores didn't have their CDs available for several days and other stores didn't have the proper codes to report their sales to SoundScan, it actually was "too close to call." I demand a re-re-recount (By the way, did you ever notice how much "Inaugural" sounds like "In august"?)

I know that "for everything there is a season," but hey, we're into the Bible and music; this business and chart-monitoring stuff is for the Byrds ;) We ARE going to try to make Spoofernatural available on our website soon, but one of our main goals was to show stores that there is a real "demand" for ApologetiX in the stores.

As a result of your help, our efforts and everybody's prayers, we're humbled to report that there are over 500 stores across the United States (not to mention additional stores in Canada, Australia and South Africa) that order ApologetiX directly through Wesscott Marketing, and there are countless other stores that now order our CDs directly through the major distributors: New Day, Riverside and Spring Arbor.

It's not too late to help - Spoofernatural makes a wonderful gift (everyone in my family is getting one ;) so, feel free to empty the stores out >:o)

Also, the CD release party was a smash. We packed a ton of people into the Robinson Towne Center Family Christian Store, and local Christian station WWNL was on hand with a remote broadcast featuring our pal, Dave Penn, the morning DJ. We had people come from as far as New York, North Carolina and even Florida. We played a bunch of songs off "Spoofernatural" and signed autographs all afternoon. Then, it was a well-deserved restful dinner for all at Pizza Hut. (ApologetiX Trivia: we always WANT to go to Pizza Hut after concerts on the road, but they always close too early, so we call that place "Pizza Shut.")

If you have your copy of Spoofernatural already, thank you. If not, there's still time before Christmas! I'm still waiting for the first person to figure out the 4 coded messages in the CD booklet. There'll be something extra in their stocking if they get it before Christmas.

One other thing: My Gram is the most upbeat, young-at-heart lady. She is a real fire brand. NEVER complains about health or getting old (she's celebrating the 48th anniversary of her 39th birthday). The one thing that has slowed her down a little is her "Macular Degeneration" or loss of sight. She can see, but it's going. At 87, she's doing great, though. Today, she talked about how well she's doing, even at her young age, but in closing she said "If you have any extra prayers, ask that my eyes just don't get no worse - that's all."

Our publicist, Kathleen Burke, spoke with K-LOVE radio network (151 stations nationwide and growing) out of Sacramento, CA, and they are playing "Spoofernatual" in light rotation; they will be doing CD giveaways in December of "Spoofernatual" on all of their 151 radio stations. The audience has not given any negative feedback on the music they have selected; K-LOVE is an Adult Contemporary format radio station. If you're a K-LOVE listener, please consider calling your local K-LOVE station and requesting ApologetiX.

The spoofs of ApologetiX are also receiving a lot of exposure through Monumental Air Show, which airs on about 500 stations all over the United States. Monumental Air Show broadcasts 30-second and 60-second "think pieces" that many stations use every hour. The spots are clever and often quite humorous. We are honored that Monumental Air Show's producer, Rick McConnell, has chosen to use ApologetiX music for many of his spots. Many new radio stations have requested our CDs for airplay as the result of first hearing us on Monumental Air Show.

Bill, our studio keyboard-artist extraordinaire, asked us to pass this along to you:

Dear friends of the ApologetiX,

My name is Bill Hubauer and I've been the "studio" keyboard player with the ApologetiX for the past few years. I've played on the last three CDs including the new one - Spoofernatural. Thanks to those of you who have already picked up a copy!

Recording Spoofernatural was quite an experience for me because I was also working on my own band's Christmas CD. One moment I was working on a Kid Rock or Ricky Martin song and the next I was working on "We Three Kings!" Very strange!

The name of my band is "Ten point Ten" and we have just released our Christmas CD entitled "Christmas." Clever huh?

If you like artists like Peter Gabriel, Genesis, Kansas, or Mannheim Streamroller, then you should really like this music. Major ApologetiX fans will recognize the name David Mckee, who played drums on "Jesus Christ Morningstar" and also drums on this CD.

Here are a few of the songs:

The CD is available for free online (in MP3 format) at:

We also have high quality CDs available for only $8.Thanks for listening! God bless and have a Joyous Christmas!

Bill Hubauer

Hey, there's a brand new Christian radio station in the Greater Pittsburgh area. It's WKHB-AM 620 in Greensburg, PA, which just happens to my (J's) hometown! 620 AM has a powerful signal in Westmoreland County and can be heard in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, too. When I was a kid it was AM pop radio - basically the first place I ever heard pop music on the radio - and then it was country for years [That's where I first heard the song, "You're the Hangnail in My Life (and I Can't Bite You Off)"]. We just sent a couple CDs to the general manager, Bob Stevens. If you live in Westmoreland County and you'd like to hear ApologetiX on your radio station, please give the station a call at (724) 853-7000.

They are CCM format 7 p.m. - 8 a.m., with ministry during the day. Saturdays are 6 p.m.-8 a.m. CCM format. This is an excellent fit, since WWNL 1080 AM in Pittsburgh broadcasts CCM during the morning. All of you people who live in Westmoreland and Allegheny Counties have no more reason to complain that local radio doesn't play CCM or ApologetiX.

Whew! That was a mouthful! Sorry to go on and on! God bless you all ... everyone! (And that's as close as you'll ever hear to ApologetiX doing a parody of Tiny Tim!)

-- J. Jackson ApologetiX (That Christian Parody Band)

Romans 5:5

And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
