6. Help Get ApologetiX Airplay on WJTL
J. Jackson, lead singer and lyricist for ApologetiX (That Christian Parody Band) here.
Well, we're back from the first Indiana/Florida weekend of the month. We played in Angola IN last Friday and then drove through the night back to Pittsburgh so we could make our flight to Pensacola FL. We liked the Indiana/Florida idea so much that we've decided to do it again ... and soon! This time, to spice things up, we're going to go to Florida (Miami) Friday, and then to Indiana (Indianapolis area) Saturday.
Don't ask me how things like that happen. It's an accidental combo; like those old Reese's Peanut Butter Cup commercials ("Your chocolate's in my peanut butter; your peanut butter's in my chocolate!") If you'll recall, we had the same thing happen a year or so ago when we played Kentucky and New Mexico on the same weekend two different times.
I'm told that the camp where we played in Angola IN last Friday is part of the origins of the seminal Christian rock band Petra. Apparently, Petra founder (and Indiana state native) Bob Hartman was once a counselor there. In fact, next month that same venue is going to be the site of a reunion of both the old and new line-ups of Petra. We also met a lady there who used to sing back-up vocals for Prince before she became a born-again Christian.
Saturday was our third trip in four years to Grace Fest in Pensacola, and some of the organizers told me afterward that we're going to be invited back next year as well! This year was our first as the closing act. Like many of the big Christian festivals, there are two stages (some festivals have more than that). The final two acts on the other stage were two little artists known as Toby Mac (formerly of DC Talk) and Third Day -- yeah, just two of the most popular artists in Christian music. That's why it's amazing that we got such a great crowd, but I guess the promoters thought that would be the case all along.
Thanks to all of you for coming out. I know it constantly amazes concert promoters how many of our fans come out to see our shows, sometimes traveling quite a distance. My sister Kris lives in Pensacola, so it was really nice catching up with her, too. We also got to hang out again with the South's legendary morning-show team, Rick & Bubba. All in all, another great trip!

5. "LIFESTYLES" #2 IN CONNECTICUT PLUS MORE TOP 10 NEWS
Our latest single, "Lifestyles of the Rich & Nameless," hit the top 30 on the R&R national Christian Rock charts last week. We're still waiting for this week's report, but we already know that this week it hit #2 on WVOF (C-Rock) in Connecticut, which is a nationally-reporting Christian rock station.
ApologetiX also has three of the top 10 requested songs on CMRadio Networks in Allentown PA this week:
4. "Hotel Can't Afford Ya,"
7. "Baa! We're Lambs," and
8. "YHWH." We're very honored, and we can't wait till they get a copy of "Adam Up." :) And if you think that's amazing, check out their top 5 requested songs from two weeks ago:
The TOP Requested Songs:
1. Shannon Cutts - A Different Girl
2. ApologetiX - Micah No. 5
3. ApologetiX - Baa! We're Lambs!
4. ApologetiX - Cheap Birds
5. ApologetiX - YHWH

6. HELP GET APOLOGETIX AIRPLAY ON WJTL
Although it's located in an area that many people associate with Amish culture, WJTL in Lancaster PA is actually one of the nation's most popular and influential Christian music radio stations, and it's the official radio station for one of the oldest and largest Christian rock festivals, Creation.
ApologetiX has always enjoyed great popularity in the Lancaster area, and we played the main stage at Creation 2000, but for some reason we've always had difficulty getting airplay on WJTL, aside from the late-night rock show and the Saturday-morning kids show, "Cookie Break" (No kidding ... and we're grateful for that!) Some stations' radio formats are hard to crack, especially when you're an independent band that some people perceive as a "novelty act."
Anyway, I have it on pretty good authority that WJTL may be experiencing a new openness to playing ApologetiX, so if you're a WJTL listener who'd like to hear more ApologetiX on the air, we encourage you to call and email your requests to the station.
Furthermore, WJTL is currently inviting listeners to vote for their Top 500 Songs of All Time. Well, the station will have 500 Songs; listeners get to pick their Top
5. If you'd like to vote for an ApologetiX song or two, we certainly wouldn't complain :) Here's the link:
http://www.wjtl.com/member/vote/
ApologetiX fan and longtime WJTL listener/supporter Jenn "Superchick" Kipp recommends that if you vote for only one ApologetiX song, consider voting for "The Real Sin Savior" (If you vote for more than one ApologetiX song, more power to ya!) so the votes are focused on a particular song. Jenn writes:
"Hey, ApologetiX fans, here's a way we may get the band to show up on WJTL's playlist at long last. Please go to www.wjtl.com and participate in voting for their top 500 Christian songs of all time, and when doing so list the ApologetiX single "Real Sin Savior" (parody of Eminem) as your #3, #2, or #1 favorite song out of the 5 votes you get. (I chose this as one of their songs which has had tremendous impact on people's lives, thus deserving the honor!) If we all work together on this, it should land enough votes to get on the top 500, and hopefully that will lead to more airplay for the band, which is currently only played on the Kids Cookie Break. Thanks for helping out, and also forward this to others who may be wiling to participate!! (you out-of-area fans can also vote, just to help out!)"
Apologetically,
J.
