7. Want to Book a Fall Concert?

This Friday we'll be doing two shows near Miami in Davie FL. No, the hurricane season has not had a negative effect on these concerts -- from what I hear, tickets for both shows have sold very, very well and they may very well be sell outs. We're also going to be recording "live" at these shows for possible use on an upcoming CD. Come ready to sing along and to shout! On a personal note, I'll be celebrating the birthday of our third and youngest daughter, Kelly, who will be one year old. Actually, we've been celebrating that with her already today, since I'll be away on Friday, but I'll still be celebrating the joy God has brought into my life through that beautiful little girl.

On Saturday, we'll be in Big Rapids MI (Sorry, a few weeks ago we mistakenly said Grand Rapids). It's always a great time when we go to Michigan. We have a lot of great friends and fans up there, and we hope to see you all there! Our keyboardist, Bill Hubauer, will be there (as he will be in Florida on Friday), and I'm pretty sure it's his first trip with us to Michigan. He missed out on that awesome concert by the lake in Ludington a couple months ago and the cool personalized ApologetiX wooden shoes we were given in Holland earlier in the year.

Thanks to all of you who came to see us at Penn State University last Saturday. It was a great crowd and a great sound set-up. The organizers really did a good job. As we went on stage, we discovered that we'd won the Alternative Artist of the Year award at the previous night's American Christian Music Awards, also held in the State College area. Later, we found out we won a second award. For more info on that, please read section #4 below.

O.K., it's time to once again reward those of you who read this far into my opening monologue. As I mentioned last week, we are planning to release a new CD in time for the Christmas shopping season (not at the tail end, either, like last year). It'll be different in a number of ways than anything we've released before (don't worry; there will still be both classic and modern rock parodies for both the older fans and the younger fans), and we'll be giving you the title and clues about the contents really soon.

I've already finished recording my vocals, Keith's finished his bass and Bill's finished his drums, so that means the only two putting finishing touches on it are Karl on guitars and Bill Hubauer on keyboards. Please pray that those phases of the project go well and that God gives Karl extra strength and wisdom as our producer orchestrating all this. We plan to have the project at the duplicators within the next week, and there's plenty of work left to do (but it's been going well thus far).

4. ApologetiX wins Two American Christian Music Awards

We're amazed, honored and stunned to report that ApologetiX received two American Christian Music Awards when winners were announced last Friday -- Alternative Artist Of The Year and Alternative Song of the Year (for "Lifestyles Of The Rich & Nameless.") Unfortunately, we weren't at the ceremony to attend (Hey, we didn't know we were going to win ONE, let alone TWO!)

Thanks to all of you who voted on our behalf. See, your vote DOES count. And since there was no ballot-box stuffing (everybody votes once), that makes it extra cool. Want to take a shot at the CCM Magazine annual awards? See the blurb on it below.

5. Please Vote for ApologetiX in CCM Magazine Reader's Choice Awards O.K., ready for the next challenge? It's the CCM Magazine Annual Reader's Choice Awards. Although we've been hitting the national Christian rock single and album charts for the past few years, have been faithful subscribers for five years, and have advertised every one of our CDs since "Spoofernatural" with full-page ads in their publication, CCM Magazine has basically never acknowledged our existence in any of their articles, aside from inclusion in a photo caption with other artists at an event we played earlier this year.

Like many others, I think CCM Magazine would probably be shocked to discover just how many ApologetiX fans there are out there. I did a radio interview with a station in Abilene TX earlier this week, and he couldn't believe that we had over 40,000 regular subscribers to our weekly email newsletter. But it's true. God has blessed us with a lot of friends and fans. And the neat thing is, when those friends and fans tell others about us, we usually end up with a whole bunch of new friends and fans. A lot of CCM Magazine readers just don't know who we are.

Now, CCM Magazine has just opened up the on-line voting for their annual Reader's Choice Awards. Not surprisingly, we're not even listed as a choice ... BUT there is a spot in each category where you can write in a vote. There are a number of categories in which you could choose to vote for ApologetiX, such as Favorite Band of 2004 (don't do Favorite Group -- that's for vocal groups), Favorite Artist of 2004, Favorite Album of 2004, Breakout Artist of 2004, Favorite Artist Who's Never Appeared on a CCM Cover, and even Favorite Independent Artist of 2004.

We'll welcome any votes you want to place on our behalf, but Favorite Independent Artist sure looks like a category where we'd have a good chance. You can vote for ApologetiX in as many of the applicable (let's not be silly and stick us in categories that don't apply) categories as you like (and please don't forget to vote for other artists you enjoy in their applicable categories), but please submit only one ballot. People who try to stuff the ballot box by submitting more than once will be automatically disqualified. It makes them look bad and it makes the artists they vote for look bad. Besides, if we win, we want to win fair and square.

This ballot is really easy to fill out. If you have a moment, please take the time to go to:

http://www.zoomerang.com/recipient/survey.zgi?p=WEB2RU3EEGXB

If you clicked on the above link and it didn't take you to the ballot, try copying and pasting it into your browser. If that doesn't work, you can click on the link at CCM Magazine's website: http://ccmmagazine.com

Thanks for your support!

7. Want to Book a Fall Concert?

Usually, if you waited till October 1 to book a fall concert with ApologetiX, you might have to wait till the fall of 2005. Not this year. If you'd like to book a fall concert with ApologetiX, you picked the perfect time to do so. Here's why:

For most of this year, we had special plans that were going to keep us occupied for most of the fall from mid-October through early December. Consequently, we did not book any concerts on those weekends. However, we have decided to change those plans, and those weekend dates are now available, although our booking agent, Kathleen Burke of Burke Communications, working hard to fill them in as quickly as possible.

8. Prayer Request

Please pray for our good friend and long-time fan Richard Sadowski, who lost virtually everything he owned in the recent flooding that hit Pittsburgh in the aftermath of the hurricane. Karl talked with Richard personally this week, but he's been hard for the rest of us to get hold of, so I don't have all the details yet.

Richard is an amazing guy who loves the Lord with all his might and is always telling people about Jesus. He's also frequently tells them about ApologetiX, a 12-year tradition he started after he first came to see us in concert in 1992. I cannot stress to you how nice of a guy and how big a fan of the band Richard is. A friend of his who made us aware of Richard's plight told us one of his greatest losses was the ApologetiX memorabilia he'd collected over the years. That's easy enough for us to replace for him, but we do ask for your prayers on his behalf.

We're thankful that Richard is alive and well, but the flood severely damaged his home, perhaps irreparably, and we hear he lost his vehicle, too. We'll find out more details soon. In the meantime, God knows the details, so if you could remember Richard in your prayers, I'm sure God will take care of things.

Thanks! God bless you all!

Apologetically,

J.
