Don't Get Carried Away in the Storm

A thought hit me this morning as I was reading about Jesus calming the storm on the sea of Galilee in Mark 4:36-41.
What did Jesus say? "Peace. Be still."
And what did the Disciples say, "What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?" Modern translations say "Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!" (NIV)
A look into a famous passage in Psalm 46 that also uses the words "Be still" answers their question about who Jesus was and ties everything together:
"Be still, and know that I am God ..."
The same God who rolled back the Red Sea is the same God who calmed the Sea of Galilee, and He can do the same for the raging waters in our own lives. Keep trusting!
