Special Request from ApX's Chris Von Bartheld
Fri., Jan. 19. 2018 12:49pm EST
ApX keyboardist Chris VonBartheld here:
Cody Martin is part of the Bread of Life/GIG coffeehouse community, the church where I was worship leader when I joined ApX. I have spoken with Cody about the fact that the GIG coffeehouse/Good Works Ministry is purchasing a new building and is getting some opposition from members of the community who are just uneducated on what they're all about. I'll let him explain:Hello! I was encouraged to reach out by my friend Chris VonBartheld. I'm the youth pastor at Bread of Life Tabernacle in Uniontown PA, and I wanted to touch base with you about a situation that we are currently facing. Here is a quick summary:
We are attempting to bring a Christian faith-based addiction rehabilitation center to Perryopolis PA and we are being met with a ton of community resistance, simply because most of them believe it's like the meth clinic that is up the highway a few miles, when in fact The Recovery House is 100% abstinence from any substance at all.
We need to come together to continue to fight this addiction epidemic, and not let the stereotypes of people addicted to drugs affect the view of those striving to stay in recovery! Please sign our petition to approve the zoning for our building! https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/support-addiction-recovery-and-rehabilitation-in#.WlahFP9tO6Q.facebook
